BM Leech, bug or intended?

New to Hunter. Learning the leech effect from Ferocity pets (predators thirst) doesn’t count pet damage…and so this pet ability is kind of useless for BM, the spec all about pets? (I guess the pet damage heals the pet not the hunter?)

Doesn’t that seem like an oversight?

MM gets almost full value…but doesn’t use a pet… So what’s the point?

We have any confirmation on if this is intended?

Thanks!

This is intended. Leech benefits whoever is dealing damage or healing. In this case, most of our damage comes from our pets, so the pet heals from leech quite a bit which can make certain ferocity pets as BM pretty good emergency tanks.

That said, BM still benefits from leech with Cobra Shot, barbed shot, and your various talents depending on what you pick. Additionally, leech will also provide extra healing for Exhilaration and Mend Pet back to the Hunter. Say you have consistent aoe damage pumping out on the party (like from pride). You can use mend pet to help heal yourself and reduce pressure on your heals, or even jump back to full health with Exhilaration. The healing you receive further increased with animal companion since you’re healing two targets rather than one.

So, yes it is intended. The absurd amount of leech we get is offset by how our damage is dealt but has its own benefits as well along with the downsides.

The massive amount of healing our pets do automatically from leech also helps us keep our pet alive in solo content like Torghast.

This is correct. We can. Solo a ton of content others cannot because of it. Soloing current M0’s for instance is possible if you’re looking for a fun challenge.
