Not sure what else to say, SV and MM have reasons to press KS but for BM it’s a terrible use of a GCD. When the big shiny proc/execute is lower priority than every other spell in your book, the ability isn’t tuned properly.
It’s actually high in prio, just under our burst CDs and above KC, Dire, etc.
Kill Command having a higher prio than Kill Shot is only if KC has 2 charges because why aren’t you pressing your damage buttons?
Maybe it can use a little bit more damage but it’s just about where it should be in priority, IMO.
Maybe it’s just PvP then, but it’s lower prio than KC since it does like half the damage.
I’m feeling like you probably haven’t taken Improved Kill Shot? My own Kill Shot does equal damage to a Kill Command, but that 25% extra critical damage from IKS is what really makes the ability a proper execute. I’ll admit that I don’t PvP and therefore could be entirely wrong with what I’m about to type, but crit is generally a fairly important stat for Hunters if only for Wild Call since we still don’t have anything that increases the duration of Frenzy like what we got used to for the past three expansions in a row. Therefore, to me at least, it seems as though you should be critting with Kill Shot fairly often if you’ve got plenty of crit on your gear. If you’re not critting or if you don’t have IKS Kill Shot still seems to do roughly the same damage as Kill Command so I’m not entirely sure where you’re getting it does half the damage.
This.
IKS is a must. My crit unbuffed is 31% before buffs, Thrill of the Hunt, Lariat procs, etc.
Today’s Rasz fight 50% of my KS during her final 20 were crits with 38k avg damage between crit/normal dmg for that phase. 28k avg damage on KC for the entire fitght. So KS is higher priority because it deals more damage unless you’re sitting on stacks of KC in which just let 1 rip so you’re not capped.
If you are talking about PvP then IDk. Tuning is different in PvP.
Kill shot in pvp is like 1/3 of a KC , in pve my KC is still higher than kill shots which kinda stinks. Pvp is probly what he is talking bout though.
Ah yeah. I can see that being nerfed in PvP. I would probably then just let one fly if every other button is on cooldown. I mean at that point it’s something to press that’s not Cobra Shot but I’ll have to go to the target dummy and test. Maybe it winds up somewhere when you are low on focus.
I’m personally against execute buttons or dealing more damage to lower health targets, though I feel damage as a whole in PvP needs to be tuned way down so we can reduce self sustain through healing and defensives across the board. Hell I’d like to see half of everyone’s utility, healing and defensives ripped so there’s that.
Not sure why all the replies so far think Kill Shot is high priority, just one look at Icey Veins or WoW Head’s rotation page and you see it’s right at the bottom, even below Kill Command with 1 charge.
The only thing below Kill Shot is Cobra Shot lol
I did primarily mean PvP, but I noticed in PvE it’s still lower damage than KC. And it’s lower prio than either KC or refreshing Barbed Shot. It’s literally only above Cobra Shot, which essentially heals the target.
Every other spec with an execute does big damage, except BM.
I know it’s lower damage because we get like 5-8 procs a min. If it was like MM or SV we would probs be 30% above every dps in game because how frequently we can use it.
I was actually going to make a post about this after messing around in solo shuffle as surv. Kill shot as surv, it is not uncommon to see 80-100k kill shot crits. I was like WTF. As BM lucky to see a 50k KS crit. Was debating even taking improved kill shot talent as BM
I don’t even bother with it, 22k normal isn’t worth the talent point when we don’t have that much crit.
Our big “shiny proc!” and “end the game!” ability is a Ret or Arms white hit
