Bm Hunter loot question

Hi everyone,
My loot specialization is set to bm and I seem to be getting mastery based loot. Another hunter told me that I should change my loot specialization to marksmanship and I would get more crit loot. Is this correct ?
Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

No.

Loot specialization really only makes a difference on classes that can fill multiple roles, such as tank or dps. As a hunter since dps is all you do, anything that fulfills that role, even if it’s not ideal for your spec can drop.

I see… So just keep it set as bm hunter than ?

You could set it to survival for all the difference it would make. Though, that would get you melee weapons to drop instead of ranged ones.

Thanks for the reply :slightly_smiling_face:

Loot specialization only controls Trinkets and Weapons. Any of the main 8 armor slots, cloaks, necks, and rings are all spec-agnostic. That goes for every class btw, even classes that can fill multiple roles.

For Hunters, since we are a pure DPS and use the same stats in every spec, Weapons are the only difference, and only for Survival. MM and BM get identical loot.

Thanks🙂 That gives me a better understanding

It’s not just you, it seems that most of the gear that has been dropping in 8.3 is some combination of haste/crit and mast. It is frustratingly hard to get any combination of both crit and haste I have found unless you specifically target drops by farming certain dungeons.

I even had the bad luck of crafting lots of boots/pants and not one time have I gotten that crit/hast combo. RNG at its worst along with what I feel is the devs not paying attention to the stats that most of us need when doing whatever it is they do to make the loot tables for items. But then again this is all just based on my experiences which unfortunately have been pretty bad this patch. For one I keep getting boots and pants from my chest and vision runs.

I wish they would make something that excluded you from getting drops on items if you were able to craft them. But then again that would hurt people that didn’t have their void focus up to the highest level or couldn’t afford the mats/expulsom to craft them. The idea that has been throw around about getting a choice of items from the weekly chests has to be the best thing I have heard so far and I really hope that they do implement it at some point. If anyone knows if they have or are going to do that in SL I would like to know since I don’t always keep up on everything going on yet.

I have mine on BM as well and the only armor drops I get are Plate and the only weapons I seems to get are Maces and staves

wait what? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Loot specialization only matters in current content. Any content classified as “legacy” (which currently is Legion is prior) does not have personal loot, it can drop anything on the drop table, even gear you cannot equip.
