Bm hunter help

was looking for some help with best talents to take and what is the burst/roation

First you’re gonna want some trinkets and other stuff for stuns and fears and general CC, then I’d suggest any PVP talent which helps with magic and general damage reduction for yourself and others: Survival tactics, Wild protector, and personally I like to pair Dire beast: Basilisk with intimidation/freeze trap for decent single target DPS burst. https://www.wowhead.com/guides/beast-mastery-hunter-pvp-talents-racials here’s a few talent guidelines for PVP if you need them.

That says the same thing the one I posted did…how is it “better”?

EDIT: Nvrmind just realized it had other tabs for covenants and other SL stuff.

Talents:
2 (or 1) / 1 / 3 / 3 / 2 / 1 / 1

  • Is the appropriate talent choices. I like to use 1 in the first talent row a lot because the secondary pet has issues when using FD to lock you in combat. Not fun when your pet dies and you need to FD → Camo to Rez pet.

DPS Burst: 2x Frenzy, Bestial Wrath, Frenzy, Murder of Crows, normal rotation of 2x Cobra to 1 Kill Command.

  • Always make sure you are using Frenzy 1-2 seconds before the 3 stack drops. You will not have 100% uptime on this in arena, so when it drops make sure you don’t use it again until you have 2 charges, or you need the bleed to keep someone from a restealth.

Best in slot legendary: Craven Stratagem
You can basically always find a use for this, 15 second FD is a massive boost to survivability and interrupting casts to avoid damage/CC/remove debuffs. Always pair with Survival Instincts pvp talent, you basically never take that talent off. With both of these you can FD slows, roots, dots, poisons, bleeds, get out of warrior Kyrian spear lockdown (FD and then move out), you name it. Also useful to FD large burst for the 90% damage reduction against Ele/Boomy/firemage.

PvP talents: I default Survival Tactics / Wild Tactics. 3rd choice changes depending on matchup:

  • Roar of Sacrifice for any burst comps (Ret, Ele, Firemage, Boomy, Double Melee if on a flat map).
  • Dragonscale Armor is useful against spriest / Aff cleave comp. The other decent pick if you are good about saving FD to remove Devouring Plague / Unstable Affliction is The Beast Within for pet fear immunity during Bestial Wrath
  • Z axis maps Explosive Trap is incredible. Blades Edge / Dalaran Sewers specifically. Look to capitalize on standing in good spots to knock players away on cooldowns or big heals.

Enchants: Sinful / Celestial Guidance depending on your gear level. Sim them to see which one is more dps for you.

Stat Prio: Vers > Haste > Mastery = Crit

Covenant:

  • Venthyr is the current FOTM for damage boosting. It is a solid pick if you play a comp that has hybrid offheals to support your healer when he is CC’d. From what I see people are typically playing the first tree for the 20% haste proc
  • If you are like me and play something without a hybrid healer (I play Fury war / BM / Rsham), then IMO Kyrian is the best for survivability with potion heal, and 3 second aoe stun for double melee comps when you dip low. Play talent tree 1 for most matchups, the mastery bonus is really good. Against double melee or RMX play talent tree 3 for the aoe stun. This will help shutdown melee goes, and totally piss off the rogue in RMX. Kyrian arrow is really underrated on BM, it helps me to secure kills all the time, as well as giving me a way to kick healers when a kill target is low and they are LOS.

Here is my hunter if you want to look it over:

Pmuch just need this:

Ssds has it up to date, has everything you’d need to know for now

Spitting Cobra do any decent dam after the change?

Dnno

I haven’t actively played since 9.0.5, didn’t mess with builds or anything

uhhh ok thx

Spitting cobra is still trash. It does less than 2% of my overall damage compared to around 5% damage increase from crows.

Recommend watching jelly beans he played by in the awc today

Watching Jelly rip into that mage was awesome!

BTW I think Killer Instinct + Killer Cobra are underappreciated talents, especially when it’s against healer/dps in 2s.

With that being said, listen to the top rated hunters, this is just my personal opinion.

Ima ask this here, but why isn’t BM hunter Overwatch ever talked about/used.

Jus Curious

Biggest problem with interlope (https://www.wowhead.com/spell=248518/interlope) is that the pet already has to be close to the target for it to work well

It just becomes super awkward, doesn’t dash the pet to the target or anything like master’s call/ros does

becomes wasted because of that

Ah ye. Still odd to me Wild Protector has even less range but is staple.

Also interlope has a 45s Duration/45s cd. So I’d imagine you could sorta use it as a ghetto warbanner and stop Re’s.

Idk just think never see it explored at all

Pretty much this :grinning:

I take killer instincts too, the second pet is taken by most because they think it sims highest in dps, which may be true on a dummy but it isn’t in arena, almost every class has roots and freedom/dispels never applies to the ai pet and it ends up being a hassle to deal with, not to mention with venthyr, kill shot gets put on cooldown and the execute can be handy at times.
Additionally the second pet doesn’t fool people anymore if they choose to target your pet and the second pet also often doesn’t drop combat even when you call it back, I feel like it’s permanently set to assist.

It’s a shame too because this PvP talent has loads of potential, hopefully in 9.1 they will review this.

pretty much the only use i ever had for it was dueling boomies to absorb starsurges and destro bolts
