BM Hunter Design Frustrations

Survival got reworked, but BM still feels clunky af. Our AoE locked behind Kill Cleave + Kill Shot GCD? Seriously?

And don’t get me started on Barbed Shot. It’s a pain to manage and doesn’t even fit our lore. We’re supposed to be masters of beasts, not juggling dots and kill cleave…

this buff of 10% is a joke.

BM doesn’t feel clunky at all. It feels pretty much the same as DF.

Barbedshot is like the easiest thing to manage.

Still don’t know why they haven’t changed Barbed Shot.
Keeping stacks on a buff/debuff that is shorter than the CD of the ability applying the buff/debuff isn’t fun. Doesn’t matter how much RNG reset you add to it or how many charges you give it.

Because spamming abilities just because is poor gameplay.

Its really not hard to manage

How difficult it is to manage is irrelevant to whether said management is fun or not.
Barbed Shot isn’t fun to manage.

Fun is subjective.

Barbed shot is core to BMs playstyle.

If you don’t find it fun try the other two specs.

I wouldn’t say “clunky” necessarily. It is however incredibly one-dimensional. It’s like the BM designer has zero imagination or just hates hunters. Remember Torghast where BM hunters basically got zero interesting powers? You had warlocks doing 280 million damage with a single Chaos bolt (if everything went right). What’d we get? Trap and Aspect CD reductions. The Flare into Tar Trap was awkward to use and sucked anyway. Necrolords could get interesting if you got the right powers to be a Fleshcraft bomb but other than that… boring.

The DF talent rework was a really weird mix where there are like 12 powers that affect Barbed Shot. Like they went all in on Barbed Shot. What about the rest? Multi-shot hitting more targets? Or MS hitting secondary targets (like the Ret talent)? Or effects that stack (eg Frost mage Winter’s Chill)? Or higher % for Kill Shot? Or ST abilities hitting a 2nd or even 3rd target (eg Ret Judgment talents)? Or really anything that wasn’t Stomp/Kill Command cleave? By season 3/4 BM didn’t even take Multi-shot as a talent, which was really weird.

I’ve also been critical of the talent rework because it seems to me like they just threw talents at a blank tree and they ended up wherever they landed. It also put abilities you absolutely don’t need to level unavoidably at the top (eg Tranq shot) while demoting huge quality-of-life talents, most notably Trailblazer.

But now we have Barrage and Explosive Shot? Ok… We now also take Call of the Wild but I already had switched to this in DF S4. It’s pretty good but the CD needs to be shorter. IF DK Apocalypse is on a 45 second CD (and Raise Abomination 1 minute, etc) then why is this 2 minutes? Maybe we could have some talents to reduce it?

There just seems to be an extreme lack of imagintion and the absence of any kind of cohesive class identity with the current design.

i think they want to keep complexity out of bm since its the one spec that, children under the age of 10, people in their 20s-30s who have never touched a game before, boomers, and the elderly can all play effectively. the skill floor/ceiling are about a foot apart

This isn’t even true since you always take savagery lol

Savagery adds 2 seconds to the duration, which is still 2 seconds shorter than the CD.

Tell me you haven’t played BM without telling me you haven’t played BM.

I’m not saying it’s difficult to the average wow player, but everyone in those cases you mentioned would have really hard time maintaining 3 stacks of Frenzy. The spec isn’t really viable if you can’t maintain 3 stacks of Frenzy.

But then you get resets and it’s hasted so really it’s not management at all

The new talent tree destroyed us, I love to go back to the Dragon Flight one. I don’t think Blizzard know how to balance BM

maintain 3 stacks of frenzy isnt impossible nor a skill check. lets stron pretending that the hasted resetable mechanic is “difficult”

I feel like you didn’t read the original poster nor my reply. You saw something in my post about Frenzy being hard and immediately assumed that’s what I meant. It’s not. Read everything again.
