I had a starter account on my system that I had not used in years. I did the delete starter account, and now I cannot log into either of my retail accounts. However, I can log into my classic accounts. I really would rather log into my retail since I am GM and have some guildies needing to get set up. I wonder how long it will take to fix this since it took two days just to get a reply about account combining…
I too am having the same error when trying to log onto retail. I am able to log on to classic, but not for retail WoW. Everything was working fine yesterday.
I have been playing since BC, never had this problem. Not computer, like you played yesterday with no problem. I hope it gets fixed soon, guildies are a bit frustrated right now.
Yeah, I’ve never had this experience as well and I have been playing since release. I do hope that this issue will be resolved soon. Would like to get on to raid tonight.
I’m having the same issues I have tried everything getting to the connecting and then get disconnected.
Same thing here i can’t log, blizz fix your stuff.
Yeah, not sure what else to do for this. I’ve already checked through my firewall for permissions, flushed dns, reset my tcp/ip and winsock, fresh reinstall on both the game and the bnet application.
Pretty much same here. Went through the whole rigmarole Blizzard sends you though to get going. Nothing yet. A bit on the frustrating side of all this. At least I am not the only one, I thought it was something I did. I guess it is back to the old typical maint day breaks. We never raided back when on maint day, know it would take them a couple days to get it fixed. Must have hired those old programmers back so they could break things again. LOL… I guess I will get my books out and catch up on my reading.
Still not fixed Blizzard we have done our part now do yours please. I have done more on this PC then I have had to do in years.
I just did the scan and repair still getting disconnected sooooooo I’m done. Anyone else get theirs working?
I’m having the same problem and customer support is looking into it. I’ve seen DXDiag and WinMTR logs being looked at in other threads to find the main cause. So hang in there guys, we be in good shape soon
Yeah, well, still not fixed. Frustration… I have done all the "repair, scan, reinstall, delete WTF file, rebooted computer, and everything I can think of. Still can log onto Classic, but not retail. Please Blizzard, help an old veteran out…
The issue is still not fixed on my end. I spent some time digging through the forums and noticed that this issue isn’t anything new. It seems like for some reason, some people will encounter this issue every so often and it is not something we can do to fix it. This seems like an issue on blizzards part so most likely we will just have to wait and hope that they will fix this soon.
I am a little concerned with the tech support, got a reply in email to do certain things which I did all day yesterday, I sent files, but not sure anyone read them. They acted like it was on my end. I have a system built for gaming, and can play any game out now. Was working Monday, not Tuesday after Maint. Why ask for info if they do not use it? And they acted like it was my problem, not theirs. Lazy techs… I have a son that used to work for EA as quality control. He was taught by me. I am getting a bit upset about this, and I know it is only a game, but I have in game friends that are relying on me.
Thank you Tech support I happened to try to log on the game again and I’m now on the game , not sure what you did on or end but please don’t touch anything. lol
Resolved. Tech Specialist Lorrothir came to my aid. It turned out my antivirus caused the problem after I deleted an old starter account. The tech took the time to actually look at the files and then double checked my account. I appreciate that Lorrothir did all this to help me out. Again, thank you tech support. I was a little concerned since I was also being asked how quickly could I get back on… LOL
I had the same issue and like Coldspell, disconnected my antivirus, avg, and was able to log on. Once I logged off, i connected to my antivirus again and logged on again. Success.
Hey all,
Thanks for the update and I’m glad to hear that everyone has been able to get back in so far.
It does look like Avast and AVG are causing this error for some people recently. We don’t normally see anti-virus cause connection errors like this, so that’s why it’s generally not the first on our list to try.
Let us know if ya’ll need anything else!
Same!! Im so glad its not just me! Lost like 4 days of subscription to this BLZ51901016 error :S
I’ve disabled Avast and I still can’t play, help??
Hey Razror,
If disabling Avast doesn’t help then your issue is not quite the same as discussed above. BLZ51901016 is a generic “can’t connect” error message, so there can be multiple causes.
If you are connecting from a South American country there has been a wave of reports of this error this week, and it appears to be issues between several ISPs in South America and the WoW servers. You can try connecting through a VPN to see if that will help in the meantime while the issue is figured out.
