Blues editing titles/posts changing context?

I had a post that I’d hoped would get Blizzard’s attention, simply as a “hey, we’re here, talking about a thing, check it out, sit by the fire, have a hot cocoa, add a comma to this dragged out and beaten to within, an inch of its life horribly-grammared run-on sentence!”

Yes, I’m stupid for expecting an exchange including Blizzard, I get that.
Yes, I’m stupid for having “Blizzard” in the title. I get that.
Yes, I’m still VERY new to the forum, even though I’m a long-time player of WoW.

But those things are unimportant to my issue. A blue (is that what we call them? It was someone with a blue frame around the WoW symbol avatar and with a public profile that said it was hidden) edited the word “Blizzard” out of the title.

Yes, I understand why they did it, I get it now. We’re not “allowed” to “call out Blizzard”… what th- I digress… quickly off that thought.

But they did it without notifying me, which could easily lead to me continuing to post with titles that include “Blizzard”, which would lead to a blue continuing to have to edit my titles until I’m eventually silenced for a period of time.

It also flat out changes the context of the post. If my post is originally intended as a letter TO Blizzard, and says something like “you are all the smartest, most awesome, most incredible buttheads ever. Get it together!” and the word “Blizzard” is edited out, now the community thinks I’ve complimented them in some form.

And I won’t have that.

But seriously, if a blue edits a post, in any way, they should, in my opinion, leave a comment on the thread explaining that they’ve done so and maybe even why. Especially on the post from someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience on the forum (which can easily be seen).

Please understand this is me trying to understand the system better so that I follow the rules and comply- it just seems like it would be better for everyone involved if whomever changes titles or posts also explains that they’ve done it and why. That’s all.

Probably they changed it b/c they didn’t want to delete the entire thread.

This is a forum for discussing the game with other players. It’s not a message board to Blizzard. If you wish to write a letter to Blizzard, then write a letter–on paper.

The CMs will occasionally communicate with us. But they’re here to primarily assess what we’re talking about with each other. They communicate that quite regularly with the development team.

The moderators are here to moderate. Not to hold our hands. The forum guidelines are in the sticky posts and they’re available for us to see what we did wrong. There are thousands and thousands of us and very few of them. They don’t have a time to write each of us a personal note.

FYI, we’re not supposed to make posts about moderation. Doing so can result in being moderated more severely.

On paper??!?

Edit: is it possible to email them? I mean I could write a letter. It would just be easier to email lol

How even do paper letter? Such confuse

I get that you’re exaggerating for comedic effect, and I dig it. But that’s honestly the most ridiculous response anyone could have given to my post… “write blizzard a letter-on [sic] paper”? flagged for trolling. (also exaggerating, not so much for comedic effect).

If the moderators removed every post that discussed the current state of the game or even was critical of it? The forum would be empty.

Hyperbole isn’t a great way of communicating, Eric. It just opens you up to people saying “dude, that’s not even remotely true,” which, by the way is this case.

This isn’t a “fanboy” thing. This is just a simple statement about how the forums function. If you can’t fathom that, perhaps you need to take a few steps back and look at things objectively. It won’t hurt. Not a lot anyway. Unless you’re really close to a wall or something.

But it was to Crepe tho D:

Also, Blizz probably just edits stuff because it would take too much time to give everyone a comment.

I stopped reading here. I didn’t say anything about them holding my hand- I asked that they explain how I’ve broken a rule so that I don’t break it any further (which I understand they don’t need to do)

but more importantly

that if they change the context of a post, to explain that they’ve done so.

If I deleted the first two paragraphs of your comment and started it with “The moderators are here to moderate, not to hold our hands.” it takes on a much less explanatory feel and a much harsher, direct feel is conveyed. It would change the context of your post. That’s what I disagree with.

And I lied, I read the last line of your comment just now…

I thought about that while I was typing the post, but I hoped I left it general enough to pass. I’m not calling out the blue that did it. I’m not starting a revolution. I’m not inciting any vitriol or rage or violence. I’m just asking that if they change the context of a post, say so. Also, you sure like to see that green text, don’t ya? Half of what you’re saying in these comments is … sigh.

I was referring to his response to my post. I knew you were responding to him. I got you

Nope. I’ve been to their HQ, they keep binders of letters sent.

They showed you correspondence from customers?

Well if the word blizzard in is thread topic got deleted it was due to a rule. Your technically not suppose to use blizzard or blue in a title it’s frowned upon. And they can do something about it if they see fit.

And talking about what was done by then in any form of moderation is also something you shouldn’t be doing. Thus I assume op did them first and thus something was done. And now he’s talking about it could get him into trouble again

Any personally identifying information is removed, but yeah. It’s super cute reading the letters that young kids draw to Blizzard, or how soldiers appreciated the care packages that Blizzard employees sent.

what?

And I didn’t “get in trouble”, they edited a title. If we’re not allowed to discuss moderation at all, this is all ridiculous and none of us should bother with being on their forums and just go to reddit…

I don’t think that’s the case. I could be wrong, though, I have been before. Once. It was aaaawful.

You make a lot of posts about moderation warning people not to make posts about moderation.

Just ignore what those “MvP”'s say, you’ll be so much better off. I don’t read anything they write.

Well if you did have the word Blizzard removed in your topic then yea you didnt read what we should/shouldn’t do. What is ok and what is frowned upon. Butting blue or blizzard in the title. Is like asking for their attention. That is frowned upon and they can removed it if they see fit. It would have been better if you done a title of like this for example: WoW in it’s worst state plz fix.

Ya gotta be careful on how you do things here. /shrugs/
