So, the abom pvp talent is obviously very strong and provides a significant dps boost that is very dangerous to players who just stand there and let it smash them so let me just put that out there before all the “Abomination is overpowered” posts come rolling in… if you’re getting smashed by Abom it’s bc you’re standing next to it, letting it smash you, instead of running away and resetting the fight.
That being said, is there a particular design philosophy or reason behind the fact that I have no direct control over what my abomination attacks? I can literally drop abom on top of a solitary player only to have it decide to attack a completely different target and, because abom already moves so incredibly slow if it picks a ranged target the entire CD is wasted as the abom slowly lumbers towards the uninteanded target. I don’t understand why, when I have a button to tell all my pets to attack a target, that the abom is excluded from this and instead just has a mind of its own (and not a very good one at that).
It’s incredibly frustrating to have what is considered to be a major CD suddenly be made completely useless just because the abom decides to chase another target that is 40 yards away and even more frustrating that there is literally nothing I can do about it. I have chased solo targets behind pillars before, out of line of sight of other enemies, only to have the abom decide to select a completely different target than the one I have told all my pets to hit. I know abom does a lot of dmg from its melee swing but the biggest boost to UDKs it brings is that each swing adds a festering wound to the target. So, even if the abom connects with the random target it selected and applies wounds, those wounds will go to waste.
Blizzard, what am I missing here? Army of the Dead does not work this way, however it is not usable in arenas. So why does the caster have no control over the abomination when summoned and, if this design is on purpose, could you please explain the why behind that design choice? Thank you.
