Blue dragonflight buff needs to work like bronze dragonflight buff

The blue dragonflight buff in it’s current state is simply unusable. The buff gives you one stack of 10% extra damage while standing still, up to 10 stacks for 100% more damage. This sounds awesome but it never actually happens. You have to stand still for 100 seconds for it to fully stack, that’s a minute and 40 seconds. Most boss fights don’t even last a minute and 40 seconds.

What really happens is you stand still for 1 pack and get 1 stack and then as soon as the pack dies, you take 1 step and your buff is gone. Then you get to a boss without any stacks. Even as a survival hunter, which has mechanics that require you to stand still, I have yet to get this buff past 4 stacks. Nearly every single boss in cata requires some sort of movement. The one boss I got 4 stacks in was the first boss in deadmines. Once he did his firewall mechanic, I took 5 steps to avoid it and all my stacks fell off.

This is why I think the blue dragonflight buff needs to be changed to work like the bronze dragonflight buff and only remove stacks upon taking damage. As a hunter in the back, I rarely take damage and my bronze dragonflight buff is sitting at 10 stacks nearly the entire dungeon run, the downside is 100% extra haste for a surv hunter isn’t all that crazy because dots don’t scale with haste, not as crazy as my friend who plays rogue and gets 200% increased melee haste and now does 80k aoe every pull and 60k single target dps with 70% of his damage being melee swings and bladeflurry.

So that’s why the blue dragonflight buff needs to work like the bronze dragonflight buff and only lose stacks upon taking damage, otherwise it’s really unsustainable because you move far too often in every dungeon in cata for it to stack to a meaningful amount.

It’s a game of balances. The haste buff mechanic isn’t a picnic in plenty of scenarios. Get a DoT effect on you and watch that 10 stacks disappear one DoT tick at a time. Personally I think they are too vulnerable to mechanics and 10 seconds/tick is a tad long. Should go down to 5 seconds and only have a 50% to lose a stack if you do the stack losing thing. There are just some encounters it’s impossible to get/retain stacks and those dmg heavy fights are the ones you wanna BDD down the most

Agreed, it kinda sucks as well for locks. The haste is nice for spamming shadowbolts / incinerates but does nothing else, our pets aren’t gaining anything from it so demo barely gets anything from it.

Yeah I feel that, was in a group with aff lock and he also wasn’t getting that big of a damage buff. The haste doesn’t affect our pets either so we miss out on damage there too. Hopefully it gets changed so we can do big damage as well.

Yuuuup. My sentiments exactly.

Haste does help with our DoT ticks, including shadowflame, so it’s not awful for bosses. Just can’t hellfire trash packs.

An easy fix to make it different than bronze it so make it so it stacks as you move and you lose stacks every 5 seconds you don’t move. This would be a way better scenario since you are moving 95% of the time in dungeons. It would also make it competitive with bronze which literally everyone but tanks use.

I don’t think it’s a haste buff though. Reading the buff itself while its on, it says attack speed or casting speed. I haven’t looked into my character stats while the buff is active. so I cant confirm. but based off the tooltip its casting/attack speed.

its now ~4 seconds for the first stack then ~2 seconds per stacks at 25% damage per stack at a cap of 5 stacks for 125% damage increase. It is very good now and quite preferable on my caster dps.

It’s been working as a haste buff (like, DoT ticks) for me.

Berserking also says that and is effectively haste.
