I hope that one day one of my books gets made into a crappy action film with a shoehorned in teen romance angle and memes.
That’s how you know you’ve hit it big as a writer.

I logged on once to get the anniversary achiev on my main I’ve had since vanilla and haven’t logged back on since. I am burnt out myself. It’s been about a week since I logged on, little under. I’ll probably take a small break before SL. Then organize my chars and get ready for it. I am not even hype for it though tbh.
It’s fine to take a step back and relax. Re evaluate things. I know I’m also going through a bit of a stalemate in my life as far as work and my education goes.
One thing I have been doing successfully and following through with is this push-up challenge stuff my brothers and I are doing. September was 50 push-ups a day. October was 100 push-ups a day. Now in November we’re doing 100 variation push-ups a day and 50 sit-ups.
It’s not much but it’s something. Even if you feel like you’re burnt out with life, it’s ok to be. All you have to do is keep on keepin on.
Stay strong.
Yup. Golden Compass, Subtle Knife and Amber Spyglass. Amazing books and the series is just like the books. The older movie, on the other hand…
It took this:

And tried to turn it into this:

Actually, just re-read this thread. There are so many people reaching out to you, that you are important and your life meaningful. Drink it all in and appreciate all the good around you here and in your life.
that’s always unfortunate.
Back when I wrote fanfics in my teens I would get so many ideas for a story and then try to cram them into maybe 2 drafts. I just had so much stuff I wanted to get out of my head yet not enough of the actual practice to make it all flow.
I’m tired but i’m finding more stuff to do every day ,even more stuff to destroy especially that dang jungle!
I don’t know what I could say to help you. But I read your writings and I feel you.
I don’t trust Hollywood with movies like that ever since The Giver.
Let’s turn a grim yet thought provoking story with an ambiguously dark ending into a cheesy, eye-candy, teen rom, with a “happy” ending.
are u vegan?
Blech. I don’t even like The Giver but ew. ( had to read that book one year then the next year. eugh )
I can understand not wanting to make people too sad. But if people are too scared to do that then they shouldn’t try to adapt more bittersweet material.
Usually with my characters I tend to treat them as “slightly extra sweet bittersweet”. Like 40 percent bitter, 60 percent sweet. That way if I want to ponder a happy moment, it’s not too out of place.
This is my issue with Thallia’s storyline right now. (My druid, btw.) She’s got nearly 15 years of storyline and I keep rushing stuff. LOL
Yeah… Hollywood ruins books. Even Ender’s Game wasn’t what it should have been.
This is why I tend to just focus on my characters chilling and talking with each other. I can write the heck out of some conversations in my head. Other things? Not so much.
Rosenivy has a lot of story too but I’m just focusing on shadowlands ideas.
No we wouldn’t, it’s not the bubonic plague or the 1918 Spanish flu or Ebola etc. At best it’s good practice for a real future plague of greater severity. At worst it’s a waste of money, unnecessary damage to the economy and interference with hospital queues for serious non-c.ov-id medical issues. As well as an opportunity for governments and big corps to push social and employment changes in their favour vs small business and individuals.
I’m very jaded myself at this point, but counting my blessings, setting small goals and finding things to look forward to, no matter how trivial, have been getting me through. It’s better to take things a day at a time. For me personally this year has been quite hard at points due to RL events, but I refuse to give up the fight. Always keep fighting. That is a motto I live by.
A lot of respect for writing this out, OP, including the other things you wrote in other comments
You wrote it well: expressed from yourself and your experience what certainly i feel also.
Mental, emotional exhaustion.
i’ve been fine. Playing games and stuff.
Frankly speaking, if you maroons would stop complaining about the restrictions and rather exceed them, you might be able to join Taiwan, Australia, or New Zealand as countries with no new cases.
The restrictions should’ve been far stricter, far earlier. This’d already be over and done with.
As someone who has had relatives and friends die from this pandemic, a father and father in law who were in the hospital during it for different reasons; and also being home myself for 7 weeks with it, along with all of the after effects… your viewpoint is extremely wrong.
It’s not unnecessary. It’s not interfering with hospital care to non COVID patients. If you think this isn’t a pandemic of serious proportions, New York would like to have a word with you. Or did you miss the video of bodies being loaded into a semi from a Brooklyn hospital? Or how about this picture of the line of trucks filled with coffins from Italy?

One of the reasons this isn’t black plague level compared to back then is because it’s an entirely different time period. We’re relatively clean. We bathe, we eat well, we have better facilities and more knowledge.
I dislike when people make light of this virus.
2020 has actually been great for me because I’m a writer and I’ve been able to publish my comics and get a ton of other writing done.
As a bonus, the lockdown means I don’t have to deal or interact with people because as Agent Smith said, people are a virus. Except now, they literally are.
I am sorry for the people who have suffered loss or are currently going through a very tough financial period, though.
I’m sorry to hear about your experiences. Truly.
