Blood stats/gear question

Hello,

I’m progressing on Mythic+ tanking, focusing on survival.

I understand in BFA stat priority is Vers>Haste>Mastery>Crit.

I have two ilvl 420 rings:

Ring 1:
+453 Stam
+254 Haste
+240 Vers

Ring 2:
+453 Stam
+240 Crit
+254 Vers
+84 Leech

In my mythic chest this week, I got an ilvl 430 ring:

Ring 3:
+504 Stam
+365 Crit
+146 Mastery
+87 Avoidance

New ring gives only about 1,940 health, and lose about 3% Vers. Seems like this isn’t really an upgrade.

Do any tanks about there more experienced than me have advice on what rings to use?

Personally I use Ask Mr Robot.

It’s an addon and a website.

I’ve always gotten good info from that.

I would suggest keeping the 420 rings for now, even with the health loss, their secondaries are too valuable, especially for blood. A 3% versatility loss is a lot for a blood DK especially once you start getting to higher keys where trash packs will chunk out your health bar. Blood can have amazing self heals already, with proper management, the trick is just living through the hits to be able to deathstrike.

Initially for blood dks, you want to be focusing on Verse and Haste gear. Once youve geared up a bit and dont need to worry about durability as much, you can swap to Haste and Crit or Crit and Verse to increase your damage output.

Thanks all! I’ll keep the 420s for now.

Happy to help! The love of blood runs deep, and next raid tier should be our time to shine!

Generally, never pick a BDK azerite if you can avoid it. Pick highest ilvl, if two items are the same pick the one with crit > vers > haste=mastery

I only pushed 1650 as BDK in s2 so take that for whatever.

Mastery is kind of a trash stat for blood. It gives us a small amount of attack power and causes our death strikes to give us a % of the heal value as a shield. Its a little bit of extra durability sure, but you just benefit more from additional haste for runic power generation, verse for the increased self healing and decrease in damage taken, and even crit for the increased parry chance.

Even if you want to focus for damage, you shouldnt bother with mastery and its attack power bonus. Its just not worth it for us.
