Hello, I tried to purchase these today but they are no longer available. The forum post from 01/04 was not visible enough to the community - no one mentioned this to me and it wasn’t in any of the patch notes or features I read, or in any of the YouTube videos I watched. Now I’ve spent weeks of my life playing to collect coins for the commendations to find all that hard work was for nothing. Now, everyone who bought them and handed them in before patch day is going to have a massive health and damage advantage. I can not catch up to them because no one is queuing for BGs and there aren’t enough players at 50 yet to make STV fruitful enough. To obtain Rank 7 is 440 massacre coins, which is 4 times the amount of time/kills than bloodstained coins, which is impossible to obtain with a much lower level 50 base. Also, because there are much fewer rewards this phase - eg no new cape, mounts, etc. it means people will come to STV, get their new class item and be done with it. It’s going to take WEEKS to catch up to everyone, when I have already spent that time grinding. It’s really not fair. Someone needs to fix this.
The Blood Moon
- The existing Bloodstained Commendation items have been removed from Mai’zin’s vendor list. These commendations have been replaced with a new version of the Bloodstained Commendation that is now purchasable with a new “Massacre Coin” currency that will be available from player levels 48 and above. Please note that any existing Bloodstained Commendations players have in their inventory when patch 1.15.2 is released will now have a 2 week real-world duration and will expire after that time and disappear from your inventory. Please use these coins before Tuesday, April 16th.
- Additional rewards have been added to Mai’zin available at level 50 using the new Massacre Coin currency.
From the post stickied at the top of the forums, it was visible and available for a bit now. This is on you entirely.
It was posted many times, but I do agree that pvp is in a bad state, even with more 50s, there isn’t significant incentive to actually queue, and the new commendations being 1 silver is absurd, especially considering 250 honor is like 2 solo kills.
Yeah these new commendations got nerfed into the ground. Blizz is worried about people stacking dozens of stacks again like most of us just did for free Rank 7 this Tuesday.
It seems like their priorities are misplaced, and that they feel the game can only be “correct” if they hide information from, or mislead, players. Had they announced, prior to the phase, that commendations were going to cost 1s instead of 25c, you probably would’ve had a lot more people in the last week or two farming the hell out of commendations to go straight to R7 on the phase dropping, sure, but I fail to see why it’s an issue for people to go to R7 on the first reset. If people didn’t spend the end of P2 farming commendations, they’d at least be aware they now have a 4x time investment to get ranks via STV.
Conversely, by not letting players in on the fact that the commendations would cost 4x as much in P3, you have people who didn’t farm 110k worth of honor to stock up for P3 feeling like they got burned by not dumping a ton of time into Bloodmoons, under the pretense that it’d be the same time investment for the same amount of honor. Can’t say how many people aren’t doing BM because they’re focused on leveling or PvE stuff, but I’m seeing a non-negligible amount of people stressing about needing to really put their nose to the grindstone to rank, and I’m also seeing a non-negligible amount of people that are basically saying “screw it” to BM, as they feel it’s not worthwhile. If BM becomes less and less popular, with less and less people doing the event(further negating accumulation of blood coins, resulting in honor and all other rewards taking longer to gain), the SoD team has essentially disincentivized the PvP event they created, effectively creating an event that no one cares about after two months total.
Regardless of an individual’s opinion of the BM event, or how long it should take to rank up, the SoD team is tasked with knowing the audience they’ve cultivated over the past four months, and it just feels like a bit of a rug pull to let that audience know, “Hey, the commendations you’re stacking now? Those are gonna expire two weeks after the phase releases,” but not say to them, “Oh, btw, the ones we’re replacing them with are gonna cost 4x as much, so even though we’re saying we’re putting an expiration date on commendations, you might want to stockpile enough of these cheapo commendations to hit R7 immediately, contrary to like what we say we don’t want you doing.”
Season of Discovering How the Devs Will Screw You.
I found it actually easier to get more coins than normal because instead of fighting 1000 people for last hits (which is the only way to get blood), you only have to compete with 100-200 people. It’s also a lot more enjoyable with more small scale fights and less mages just AOE at alter. And also like everyone said…its been posted and stickied for awhile now.
we all know theyre probably going reduce the cost to 50c a week prior to 60
