I’m going to wait and see if it is going to be dropped in all Raids or just this.
Starting an ALL Huntard raid for H Zul…
Now I will head back to Ogri as you guys fight the Boss…just work hard and bring him down…
The tome is a 100% droprate from NORMAL or HEROIC Zul. There is nothing special involved aside from killing him! Got mine in a PUG at about 3:00 PM today, eastern time. Good luck!
Does not drop from LFR, just tried it.
I’ve seen people say they got it from LFR, but I can’t confirm it. A rare drop in LFR would be tolerable, at least, like the Legion artifact skins.
This whole thing was a disaster. I’m so, so sorry for the hunters that spent so much time looking, especially if they aren’t raiders. At least BfA’s track record is intact.
It’s just beta for Azeroth again. Just like the alchemist trinkets, engineering helms, etc that they just added. It’s content that was supposed to be ready for xpac release, but that they didn’t finish in time. Now they finally finished it and slapped it in, but stupidly forgot that it’s the end if the raid tier and the holidays, so almost no one is even going to get this thing now. They’ll realize their mistake and hotfix it again in a few weeks.
Maybe around the time they get finished with Kultirans, a race that was supposed to be of the main features of this X-Pac, but that they haven’t even finished still, halfway through the X-Pac. Must be nice to sell your game while it’s still half done.
Maybe Blizzard needs to put that “early access” tag on their games like they do on Steam.
I think they should have made it a world boss drop. Not everybody likes PVE…And some of us (myself included) have zero intention of doing heroic.
Well, if you took a second out of your busy day to read this very thread you would know it drops from normal as well. Now, you say you don’t like PvE. That is totally fine. Don’t do it. If you want the tome you will have to stomach one hour long joke of a raid.
That’s IF… they can get an invite. Apparently it’s been pure hell for anyone trying to pug for this. I dread the idea of doing similar myself for my hunter x.x
Apparently we can kill the boss as normal and get the book, so that should fix the ‘don’t invite the huntard’ stigma.
But why? Why is the ENTIRE FAMILY withheld from hunters who don’t want to/cant raid? Special skins, like Fenryr, I could totally get behind.
And no, it isn’t the same as mounts, in that there are multiple avenues to get fancy mounts. This entire family, with the ranged snare being PvP oriented, being locked behind a raid boss, is completely alienating.
GL to the hunters trying to pug, I’m sure the LFG groups are enjoying trying to sift through 80,000 hunters, and I’m sure those hunters are having a blast trying to get accepted to groups or watching the group they started sit at 0 applicants, except for other desperate hunters. Hunter only groups may end up being the only way some get this, anyway. So, they still win, I guess.
For the hunters that don’t raid and spent so. much. time. looking for this tome; I am genuinely sorry. They done y’all wrong.
Because thats where it drops from. It’s like the Legendary items in Cata, they were Raid only or the part of the MoP questline for the legendary cloak which needed BG wins.
Sometimes to do things in game you want you need to accomplish tasks you don’t want to do. It’s up to you to evaluate if it’s worth it.
This whole thing was a mess. Hunters searched for weeks, pawing over every rock and leaf in BfA trying to figure this out. Then the secret finding discord got involved and still nothing. Then someone hearths out of heroic Zul at juuust the right time and gets the tome and we all wonder why the heck Blizzard would make us hearth out of a fight before it’s done in order to get the tome.
Then Blizzard says ‘no, we messed up, that’s not how you get it’ and decide to make it droppable off normal and heroic Zul in order to ‘be fair’.
THEN we find out that the original idea was for an entire raid of JUST Hunters to make its way through Uldir and kill heroic Zul. I assume tanks and healers were supposed to get this Hunter-only raid group up to Zul and then leave so the Hunters could do it alone. A group of Hunters, with no heals and no tanks other than exhilaration, pets heals and their pet for tanks were supposed to kill heroic Zul in order to tame blood beasts.
I wonder if Blizzard tested this on their end?
Sorry, I can’t agree that the entire family, encompassing two entirely new pet models, being locked behind one single playstyle, is acceptable. And I AM a heroic raider, so I’m not an anti-raider. Just an anti-player-alienation.
Which is why I said “because we can, so we did” seems to be the only logic behind this, and I’m pretty confused as to why anyone would just say “Ok, cool!” and go on their merry way. I guess they’re the same ones that are confused that we’re arguing how disastrously this was implemented, so [[shrugging emoji]]
Edit; lol at comparing a hunter pet to a legendary. The only thing crawgs bring to the table is a ranged snare… which we have via Concussive Shot (not sure what Surv has), not to mention what other ranged classes can offer (i.e. mages).
But hey, I’m glad there are a handful of people that are happy seeing the class turn on itself.
I mostly feel bad for the super casual people who helped during the 2-week long search only to be told it’s behind a raid boss.
My guild raids heroic and I’m sure many casual raid teams can do normal Zul, but there are Hunters out there who simply cannot raid.
What about the players with disabilities who can’t sit through an entire raid? What about those with severe social anxieties who find grouping with strangers so terrifying that they just can’t do it?
Taming blood beasts may just be a cosmetic to some people, but it was a really exciting announcement that many Hunters were very excited for. They could have made it a solo effort like Fenryr or a long quest like Gara. They could have made it challenging and crazy while still allowing all Hunters to take part in it.
If it incentivises some players to broaden into other play styles it’s fine by me.
The item may become vendor-bait after the expansion which will still accomplish the effect intended.
The social anxiety I’m not sure what to do about other than tell them to see a counselor. WoW shouldn’t be built to suit anti-social people when it’s fundamentally an MMO.
For the people that can’t sit through progression, there are already groups selling kills this is just more incentive to spend gold on the kill. It’s probably what I’ll do with this character before expansion’s end.
You’re going to buy a kill, then say the drop is good as is? Buying a kill is sort of akin to “this is silly, I’m just gonna pay and be done with it!” (which I’ve definitely done, I’m not condoning that approach, just confused - without sarcasm - as to how one can say the implementation is good, but then do whatever they can to make the thing, which they said is perfectly ok as is, less terrible. Aimed at only this particular item, its source, its audience, and its reward. Again, not fighting or sarcasm.)
There were 5000 better, more interesting, more unique things they could have done - instead it was “full hunter group killing Zul but no useful hints anywhere” to “hearthing out is a bug” to “Well, we’ll make it a drop, but not for anyone who only does LFR or doesn’t enjoy raiding”. I think they severely underestimated how popular this pet would be, if they thought “non LFR raiders only” would go over well. LFG is flooded with hunters, making group organisers and rejected hunters alike frustrated.
Good intentions, very poor execution. BfA in a nutshell.
to an extent we kinda lucked out that the feature bugged. I can’t imagine us getting the pet family until much farther in the expansion if it remained “full hunter heroic zul”. No one would try that when its currentish content. maybe when we and our pets have 300k+ health in 8.2/8.3, but thats a bit of a high hurdle for a oddly specific and hidden goal. Honestly it seems like a test to see how far the community at large would go for a item with an unspecified drop location.
Normal zul though is not a problem, in less then a month it’ll be outdated content and even fresh 120s might be easily geared to smash normal-heroic uldir. Just today easily pugged it in a group that had 2 tanks 4 heals and hunters, just hunters just for this item.
Gotta be honest. I want to try it.
