Blood - Problems With Aggro

So, this is my first time playing with DK Blood and sometimes I have problems with some dps at m0. When I’m trying to pull 3+ mobs and someone start to attack it first, I have to use Runic Blade/Death Strike/Marrowrend. But that’s extremely exhaustive after some pulls. What am I doing wrong?

I’m follwing everything is said on Wow Head Guides and Icy Veins. Including, I chose Bastion.

ILVL: 181
Critical Strike: 13%
Haste: 15%
Mastery: 35%
Versatility: 8%

Not really your fault the Dps should give you a few seconds to build threat before they decide to unload.

Can’t say I have ever encountered threat problema on my dk and with our bis lego being able to be crafted next week it gives a huge boost to aoe agro. Death n decay, blood boil is enough to get the agro I need on my aoe pulls. Also a tauren so a have hoof stomp to stun everything in place aswell that might help

But every dps says that is my fault

The reality is that Blood DKs do terrible damage right now. We simply cannot keep up with DPS burst at the moment, especially if they begin to unload their DPS on the pull itself.

The DK community is awaiting some damage and survivability buffs to blood, druid, and warrior to keep them competitive with prot pally, VDH, and Brewmasters.

I was in necrotic wake and I had some DH complaining about getting aggro. I noticed I was doing too much marrowrend and not cleaving like I should w DD and HS. Also I totally forgot to utilize my Taunt which I now am. Last thing, in NW there are leapers that will jump over your BB so be looking for that. Can anyone give me tips on your initial pull and how you get them all with one BB and not have to use two? Thank you.

My priority would be to just make sure you’re pulling fast enough to keep your bone shield stacks between pull s and your first priority should be getting everybody in a decent decay in spamming some hard strikes, I usually open up with room tap and strafe a little around in the death and decay while they are slowed

So you’re spending on DD and not waiting for a freebie to come up?

On the opener I will always drop a DnD. While it isn’t free, it significantly helps with aggro on pack pulls. And if you’re chaining pulls or little downtime, you should still have BoneShield Stacks from the previous pull so you shouldn’t need to worry about reapplying BoneShield immediately.

Ok so follow up question, are you dropping DD where you stand or dropping it in front of them and pulling them w like DC or jumping in with BB?

I have a self cast macro so during combat I push that to drop it beneath me when a free one procs.

Before pull I manually place it directly underneath where they are for the initial threat then BB if in a PuG. If it’s a Guild group threat generally isn’t an issue as communication is significantly easier.

Ill give that a try, i was having to cast 2 BB trying to corral the mobs in especially when you have ones like the leapers.

At that point you have Dark Command and Death Grip. If mobs keep jumping around after those 2 abilities then there isn’t much you can do except hope the DPS kill them and the healer keeps then up.

Grip of the Dead also helps. You are sacrificing self mobility, but the 90% slow is super helpful for letting Ranged start nuking earlier, and for kiting if things get sketchy.

While prioritizing keeping over 5 stacks of bone shield. Use swarm into bonestorm as well. it will save your butt on big pulls. when bonestorms falling off hit vamp blood + rune tap, if you pull 15-20 mobs you might get globaled when bonestorm falls off if you dont pop something. if they’re not dead in 20s complain at that dps thats complaining about threat to do real people dps.

for a pull like that (3) mark the strongest or hardest target start off with

Rune blade > DD > shackle the unworth, > marrow rend once or twice with RB > blood boil > finish off with heart strike.

This should spread your kyrian dot, and cleave them and hold aggro. For bosses just pull with Dark command Death carees should be used for adds on bosses as DG doesnt work on all mobs.
Gorefiend grasp is another good grouper if you have multiples

mind you, you don’t have to follow my rotation, if dps are rushing let them know (hey im working on my tanking give me a few seconds) a good player will understand we have all been here.

mistakes most DK tank make is spamming marrow rend when its already at 10 and blowing death strike everytime they have just a enough to do it.

anti magic shell should be used before the spell, not during (depends on the spell) or after. Most new dk’s drop it too late. Asphyxiate if you can’t interrupt or if no one else has one ready for serious spells if this works. Anti magic zone should be dropped on the party more so than just yourself.

Lichborn can be used if you need a clutch heal spam with deathcoil, but you can also use it to break a fears if it calls

Keep practicing and stay consistent, thats the goal. watch videos, ask questions, talk to your party its the first week people will still be chill about wipes, some wont, most will.

Also look over your spec too

Yeah when we farmed the conduit was EZ street. Granted if the mobs lived long enough to want to kill the dps it would be different, but if we had 2 other dps going ham it would be the same kill speed

My DK hasn’t had an agro issue in dungeons yet. About the only time I lose agro, is in the world when a prot pally sneezes somewhere within a 5ft radius…

Are any of you using Bonestorm with Swarming Mist and DR? I hear it’s prob the best burst we’re going to get.

Super strain from stone legion generals will alleviate a lot of Aggro and runic generation issues
