Blood Mages should be a spec next

As my friend and I were leveling through eastern kingdoms we noticed a mage using blood magic to essentially bring an NPC back to life with their soul and everything intact. So we thought what if they give Mages a blood mage spec but make it a healer. We could use more healers anyway and it has so much potential to be a fun healing class. You could sacrifice your own health or a portion of another team members health to heal someone and/or use enemies health to heal team members. So many possibilities and it would add a different and unique play style to the game.

might be broken or trolled a tank

The Chantry would frown upon that. This is not of the Maker’s design.

Every time this comes up I feel compelled to say that Shotgun/Blood Magic (from TSW) was the most fun healing build I have ever played.

The real downside was accidentally killing myself all of the time.

ETA: It would be nice to see blood magic as spell skins for priest. As I would really like to divorce the light from my void elf as much as possible. The Venthyr skills really color Discipline in a good way :wine_glass:

They’re saving it for Necromancers.

If they ever make them.

I’ve got a lot of interesting spec quest concepts, sort of a Mage Tower 2.0, and one of them is Disc Priests redeeming the soul of Malygos by banishing his sinful pride without letting his soul completely unravel. Some kind of awesome Disc Priest staff appearance with those halkias shards at the head of the staff with a green fire like change of your spell appearances to sin magic is the reward.

It’s not exactly blood magic but I like it. Blood is more of a DK thing anyways.

I like the way you think.

True, but Blood DK is a tanking spec. Disc already works within the framework of “Blood for Blood”, as it were. With just swapping spell effects it would work almost exactly how OP describes.

we already haveee fire mage hehehehe druids need more spevcs not mages so silly.

I’d much rather have the blood mages from Dragon Age Origins.

That would conflict with healers ,you’ll doing damage and heal ,they don’t like a mage doing that.

Man, you say that, but I found DA2 character’s and story way more interesting than Inquisition(miles behind Origins though). The most interesting part from DAI for me was Trespasser but I don’t know, the whole thing felt super bland for me, the characters, the main plot, etc.

I enjoy this idea, and if Blizzard wants to take Healers in the same direction of FF14’s expectation of doing damage this would be an answer.

A Blood mage that drains from enemies and funnels their own health into the team.

Overhealing from this method would give only the mage a shield that works like the necrolord ability.

I’m sure we can get some lore from Venthyr or even Queen Lana’thel and her Blood Princes.
