Yeah, I don’t see how that’s an argument against it. In a lot of settings beings that are associated with fire (eg. fire giants, DID) often end up dark skinned.

Such skin variations doesn’t really make sense from a genetic standpoint, considering that the vast majority of Blood Elves and their ancestors lived life within the confines of the borders of Quel’thalas.

But Elves are the Eevee of Warcraft, and change form at the slightest different magical effect, so who knows?

Did people like… not play burning crusade or something? Because the blood elves who double dipped fel exposure had varied skin tones including dark.

Anyone who close to fel magic; a warlock, the child of a warlock, sunfury and felblood desenters, etc. Is likely to have unusual skin tone in addition to the green eyes gained from passive Quel’thalas exposure. Much like second generation orcs are green and not brown.

The game consistently shows skin color is one of the easiest things to change from exposure to magic of any kind or environment. Dealing with ragnaros and being undeground turned the dwarves black and grey. Demon blood turned the orcs green, even more fel corruption turned them bright red. Half of them turned grey or black for various reasons. Trolls basically just turn the color of nearby terrain, night elves turn all purple, red and black when exposed to fel magic and get even darker when exposed to raw arcane magic channeled through a titan relic. Draenei go darker, red, black or green from fel exposure and get nearly white from exposure to the light. Like 90% of animals in game have strange color variants either from magic or just alternate environments.

I don’t even know how this is a debate other than people getting triggered over their weird projected political stuff. Basically every race in the game, including most NPC races have wildly varying skin tones, and even the most casual brush with magic changes that stuff. The real question is how the High Elves even became their base all pink version when they are arcane-influenced ancestors of Night Elves, who have a wider variety, who are from trolls who have an even wider variety–when in most cases magic influence makes skin tones go crazy not uniform.

I honestly don’t think “exposure to evil magic” is the best explanation for the dark skin
Especially since the other races getting new dark skin had no such exposure.

Yeah… pretty much that quote. Skin tones in WoW change on a whim because magic. It’s a complete non-issue.

Because it makes sense for dwarves, gnomes, and humans to have those skin tones. Blood elves have always turned red or purple when they get darker skin.
