I think the Blood Knights and new Blood Elven Druids should work together in the same fashion that the Argent Crusade and Cenarion Circle worked to cleanse the WPL.
Blood Elves should not be limited. They should, if they go through a different format than just druidism, use their same magic that they do Balance and Resto to do Feral and Guardian. That would be the way to break new ground and expand their “culture” for druids.
If Blood Elves get Druids, I wouldn’t mind Void Elves getting them too – with a Nightmare vibe going on …
Perhaps have a questline that argues they don’t represent the ‘Nightmare’ that they’ve fought in the past but they represent the darker cycle of nature, such as the predatory beasts, the carnivorous wildlife – The bloodthirsty hunt and the thrill of it … You could have a cool questline with Goldrinn on that honestly.
Either way though, I’m not entirely all too much bothered if they get it or not personally
Yeah, and blood elves could have a more arcane aspect to the creatures that they can transform into, like arcane affected forms, that could have some stronger attacks at the cost of a lower health while in form.
I like the concept that they end up helping to take care of the parts of the Emerald Dream that are still and possibly eternally corrupted by the Nightmare. Basically taking up the mantle of guarding it from either the forces within it trying to push out and those who might foolishly try to use it themselves from without.
Honestly you could probably have both my suggestion & yours conclude together It’d offer a good mix of both being a representing part of that nature and also playing their part in restoring balance or empowerment towards it (which most druids are all for).
That I’m personally against, unless certain exceptions are made — but that’s a whole other topic, of which I’d rather not go into / derail this thread with …
What Blood Elven Druids? Yes, they could be used to heal the Dead Scar, but they are not necessary from a lore, or storytelling point. In fact, it makes more sense for the Night Elves to do it as part of healing the bond from the War of the Ancients and subsequent exile of the Highborne.
I’m suggesting as a matter of their introduction. Like the Blood Elves had people learn to be druids from say the Tauren or Trolls so they could engage in this operation without the need of neutral factions such as the Cenarion Circle or Argent Crusade, which, lets be honest, have a slight Alliancey bent to them. >.>
Yeah here is this issue which we have demonstrated as super important and core to our identity from when Arthas’ tried to BTFO Quel’Thalas…with heritage questliens explaining all of the struggles we have gone through as a people
How do we deal with it? Oh yeah let’s have the night elves do it
As you wrote it, it implied they were already druids - rather than building up to depict them as valid. And your method kind of flies in the face of how Highborne have been depicted to gain access to magic: They consume the magic and in turn, get the ability to use it. Arcane, Fel, Light, Void - all sources of magic they have had to consume part of in order to use.
So, which fount of Nature magic would the Night Elves and Cenarion Circle allow the Blood Elves to consume?
Maybe true for the Argent Crusade, given it’s formed out the remnants of the Silver Hand, an Alliance faction. But the Cenarion Circle has always been neutral and equally representative of the druid faction. Hamuul Runetotem is still one of the faction’s main leaders.
Midnight is about the various Elven factions coming together. Having the Night Elves do so, as a means to reconcile the differences over the last 7000+ years is a good start - and it could be the starting off point of a potential Blood Elf druid down the road, by giving them their own source of nature magic to consume without threatening the rest of the Night Elf sources of power or allies: a reborn Thas’alah.
Uh… That’s not real. That they use fonts is just a baseline elf thing but has nothing to do with their actual ability to use magic. Also it’s not limited to highborne. Moonwells are fonts as well. But again while the elves often draw upon power in those wells they do not need them to use magic.
The Thalassians need the Sunwell to ambiently sustain their magic addiction but it needs only exist for that to work and isn’t what allows them to use magic baseline.
I indicated their source. They’d be trained by Tauren or Troll druids. Probably with a gentle retcon that this was going on in the background and only now bears full fledged druids to assist with the Dead Scar.
Lorewise, Light forged Dranei cannot be shadow priests and Void Elves cannot be Holy or Discipline priests. Originally Forsaken couldnt either. But you can’t just lock a spec for one race, especially the only DPS class.
So they added new lore for Forsaken. They CAN use Holy magic, it’s just incredibly painful. The light restores their senses when they use it so they can taste and smell their own rotting flesh.
