Blood Elf Death Knight Lore questions

Hi Folks! Lore question here. How would Lorthemar and the general BE populace regard a BE DK who wanted to protect his people and the Sunwell?? would they let them??

I assumed they distanced themselves like the Dark Rangers from the Blood elves. :robot::thought_balloon:

They’re fine with it

Yeah. They do let them. It’s part of the death knight starting quests that the player character eventually heads back to their home city and is met with hatred and disdain. But they make their case about wanting to help and being free of the lich king. So then it’s all good.

This would be a modern day elf or what I believe is generation 4 DKs…Bolvar made ones where you choose to die and/or otherwise be imbued with the powers of undeath.

3rd generation and/or Arthas DKs did not have a choice. Canonically, we’re champions of our respective faction who died and were forcibly raised by the LK himself and underwent the trials that honed us into what we are so lameboy Lorth wouldn’t really have an opinion since, to him, it was a fallen elf.

It’s also doubtful he’d care all that much if one chose to become one willingly in a modern era. It isn’t like the player is his bestie. Prominent enough to be on a first name basis, sure, but we’re a soldier to him thus how we hone ourselves to be the most capable we can be is of minimal care/consequence to him.

The short answer is public reception would be mixed.

Lor’themar wouldn’t mind regardless. The general populace is another matter.

We don’t know how the majority would feel.

Some would almost certainly not fully trust a former servant of the Scourge. It would be hard for many of them to differentiate from a DK that once served the Scourge, and one that was created by Bolvar later. It’s been only a few decades since the world seemed like it was ending for the people of Quel’thalas at the Scourge’s hands, and that trauma runs deep. Any who actually gets to know them will probably be won over and trust the dk. Others will fear possible espionage. Some might see the dk as a fallen hero that has found their way back.
