Blood dk deathknights need to be rechanged

As a healer, im tired of having a blood DK tank. Their health bar jumps all over the place and is so unpredictable. The only thing that IS predictable is them rage quitting after they die because their HP bar is jumping all around over the place. Can we just bring them more in line with other tanks where they can self heal a little but their HP bar isnt crazy?

A few weeks ago I jumped on this toon to see if I could time all the 10s. I started with the icyveins/wowhead recommended builds for M+ and had questionable results in M+. My health would jump all over and sometimes it was a miracle things were timed. I thought, there is no way it has to be that way. Sure enough, I started actually reading talents and made a few tweaks to have more overall survivability and smooth out the gameplay, had to change how i played a little bit but after that timing 10s became a walk in the park.

I think a lot of M+ BDK are using the same template and failing in M+, wowhead template leans heavily in to boost DPS, in DF it would be OK, but now you gotta be a little smarter with your choices IMO. BDK is probably the hardest tank (skillwise) to play well but is the most satisfying when you do start mastering it. It’s the most fun in terms of how much control you have over everything that happens, your death included.

Hard pass, I like Blood playing like something unique.

Do you remember off hand what talents you changed?

It’s predictable, you watch their runic power bar and if it gets to 0 / stays there any length of time you can expect theyre going to need help.

Your name is so bad and distracting I cant read your topic without my eyes looking back to it every word and feeling anxiety and rage at the lack of creativity…

No offense its just names that look like a face to keyboard really urks me… They are usually the type of person that is a bot gold farmer, an alt you dont care about, or a lack of creativity. Either way its an RPG heresy crime.

10 years dungeon no trial! Unacceptable!

You don’t heal BDK

There’s been insane amounts of research on this in the BDK community

The defensive talents suck and basically do nothing

lol

BDK is easily the best tank in the game up to maybe 13ish

Then it just gets 1 shotted which is the real issue

Sounds like those bdks are used to playing easy mode prot paladins who are immune to everything

My healer just doesn’t even pay attention to me anymore since we rarely need heals

It looks like a Murloc name. Could he be one in disguise?

He better be. It is the only way it is acceptable!

take foul bulwark, improved VB, rune tap, bloodied blade and umbilicus eternus, i drop iron heart, bloodshot, improved heartstrike, consumption and another. pretty sure u can find my build on raider io.

All templates lean into offense heavy as they expect your group to play at your level and shore any weaknesses you have.

Plus you only need enough defense to not die. You need the offense to kill things faster before defensives wear off or the timer runs out.

So all templates go towards offense > defense

Sweet ty ill take a look

Speaking on BDK specifically most of the offensive talents are indirectly defensive

Meanwhile the defensives have little to no value at all in actual ingame scenarios

This is why I always check the other builds too like raid and delve builds. Sometimes the play style works better for me with some changes. Like I did some changes to my DPS build on Felsavior to make Aldrachi Reaver feel better in delves. It’s not optimal but it feels better and is working for me.

I know delves aren’t M+ but the logic can still be applied.

tanks should always need heals, thats a core concept of tanking

You really shouldn’t. Giving up so much power when we’re already the weakest DPS tank for “defensives” that aren’t to be all that impactful is a bad trade off.

Play better and get better teammates. That alone is going to go the farthest. There is a world of difference when your DPS are all doing 7 digit DPS vs low 6 digit DPS.

For the OP, turn on party resources and pay attention to the DK’s blue bar. When the blue bar is empty, they need your help. We’re also, by far, in the most danger those initial seconds into a pull ESPECIALLY if we were forced, for whatever reason, to have dropped our resources and we’re practically dead on pull if we don’t even have DRW available as a quick and bursty way to get boneshields and things rolling.

Unfortunately, DKs are among the only tanks who actively have to decide between aggro and defensiveness which is why they super duper want to roll/chain pull. Not only does letting DPS pick off low mobs while we go after fresh stuff take care of the aggro problems we can have but it allows us to get things positioned as want and keep our resources rolling. Plus, like I said, so long as the DK has blue in their resource bar, the only real danger is 1 shot damage.

That’s hilarious because the top US BDK’s build is more in line with what I suggested than wowhead/icyvein. Don’t believe me? Go look at kyrasis on raiderio. I didn’t look him up before this post.

So anyways, you were saying? Professional DK theory crafters? hmm?
