I have since re-intalled all of my addons. Most of which I have been using for the last few Expansions now. But most of the time, I get an issue with addons, any of them, “X has been blocked by Blizzard UI.” and I can ignore or disable. I cannot replicate it because its done it with just about every addon Ive used. If I do not /reload, the game will not allow me to use anything and I do not know of a workaround that is just, uninstall addons.
Is there some form of work around for this?
I use DBM, WeakAuras, Healbot, BetterTransmog, Details, Altoholic, World Quest Tracker, OmniCD, OmniCC, M+ Timer and Handy Notes. For how common these addons being used are, I cannot be the only one with this issue of addons constantly “BLocked by Blizzard UI.”
99% of the time, that’s caused by an addon trying to manipulate a secure frame while you’re in combat. There are things you can do to make the secure code automate what you’re trying to do, which avoids addon taint. Just showing or hiding a secure frame while you’re in combat will cause an API block.
I don’t get that message at all and I use some of yours, and others you don’t.
Have you updated them since the Patch release? It is likely that not all of your add ons have yet been updated for the new content so you may be getting some conflicts from those. To be certain you might want to uninstall ones that do not have a 10.1 version and just keep checking until you get a current version.
I update constantly, maybe once a week or so, but more often after a patch releases. In the past I’ve never had it this bad that I get constant “blocked by UI” messages, and I dont get why its so much worse this xpack, unless them changing how customizable the UI is itself did something. But I dont even use anything like ElvUI.
Ive had to make it a habit that if I run M+, I just zone in and /reload every single time to lessen my chances at the pop up. Ive had it still show up during a dungeon, and i dont understand why.
Then the only thing I can suggest is the ‘test by reintroduction’ method. Uninstall (if possible, if not Disable) all the add ons, then add one in and see if it does it. If it works ok for at least an hour, add another one. Just keep doing that until you figure out which one (or more) are giving you the problem.
PS: Disabling may not be enough, there are still there and may interfere even if disabled.)
I have this issue constantly and addon creators have mindlessly investigated this. Basically something causes an issue and the next time an addon tries to do something it can normally do, it shows as blocked.
EG - trying to click on a stack of rousing fire to create an awakened fire will cause bagnon to show an error, this isnt the addon issue at all. Moving the stack to normal bags will allow it. Another one is attempting to use food/flasks eetc from a bag will sometimes show an error forcing you to reload BUT moving that same thing to an action bar will work without fault.
The best work around i have seen is to simply create a reload macro and let players know you are doing so.
The only addon that I use that is not working after 10.1 is Altoholic. I didnt realize how much I use it until it was gone. It says it was updated 5/4/23 which is after the patch but still no go. Any info on it?
That would be ideal! If you could convince Blizzard to allow us to play on one toon and at the same time allow us to see everything my other 10 characters/alts are carrying and stored in their bank, that would be great. Keep us updated on your progress. Thank you and God bless.
im also haveing the same issue this literally screwed my team in arena last night cus every time i would press my keybind to attack it would pop up i had to /reload in mid combat which is just azz and lost us the game and as a pvper i use a bunch of addons alot are out of date and i have never really had an issue since i just would “load out of date addons” but now it seems to be a issue with “blocked by blizzard ui”
Hate jumping into an older thread, however, one thing I haven’t seen mentioned is here is, do you use any addons that change the auciton house? I was having this same problem and traced it back to auctionator being the cause, patch after patch and expansion after expansion. I just got in the habit of doing a /reload after using the AH and no more issues.
