That is very true. I dabbled in Diablo and Starcraft, but I only WoW now.
I actually forgot Diablo, but PoE has kind of been my go to ARPG since Diablo 3.

I just wish there was a BlizzCon. But if not, I hope the world wide exposés are good enough for the fans to enjoy them.
To be perfectly honest, now that Blizz is owned by Microsoft, I don’t expect there to ever be another proper in person Blizzcon. I don’t think MS would approve the massive expense.
Instead my guess is they will have a bigger presence at the industry cons like GDC, Gamescom etc and maybe a purely digital, prerecorded Blizz only thing like they have been doing a lot more recently.

I agree. Gone is the franchise owned by Activision. Now it is part of a conglomerate of games that responds to a major company. And MS makes the final decision.

I don’t expect a Blizzcon this year or I think we would have heard about it. The international mini tour seems to be the thing for the year.
I also think you may be right about a heavier presence at the industry cons, although they do in-person live stuff for some of those and hopefully would.
I WANT to be wrong though. I WANT them to do a Blizzcon for real again. I don’t think they would move it from the West Coast given nearly all the staff work it and they move their statues and stuff from Irvine over to the convention center. Way too much cost to do it somewhere else - and staff it somewhere else.
I have fingers crossed that sometime in the future we get a Blizzcon again, even if it is a re-imagined one. Hopefully a little less focus on e-sports!

The only way I could see it happening is if they expanded it to be more than just Blizzard to be more economically viable. Like an XBox-Acti-King-Blizzcon. Which would probably include even more focus on E-Sports. And just to add insult to injury it gets moved to Vegas.
Edit: And moved to the start of the year to sort of unofficially replace E3 now that it’s dead.
Oh heck no. It IS a cheap travel destination with lots of hotel accommodations and convention rental space. But just no. Hell no.
Anaheim (or East Coast that will never happen) or bust!
I have been to 3 and there is certainly something special bout Anaheim. Folks also usually make it a longer vacation and head over to the nearby beaches, or Disneyland.
My last one in 2018 was just…too much though. They used max convention space and there were 45k people. There was also really tight security (for good reason!) so people could not spread out or come and go. It was gated and fenced. Totally overwhelming level of concentrated crowd. Personal take on it. I don’t really do crowds well so there is that.

I wish BlizzCon was this year. By now, we should heard or read something. It ain’t happening. Now that Microsoft owns it, only when the boss says it will happen, then it will happen.

How can they have a BlizzCon when it doesn’t really exist anymore? They would be that sad booth at some Microsoft expo.
That’s not true.
- There’s the Midnight preview that we know is coming near when Blizzcon would normally happen.
- Diablo 4’s next expansion is due to release next year, so there’s the reveal for that.
- I’m sure they’d probably have Hearthstone news to drop by the time Blizzcon rolls around.
And then there’s their other games, which have content coming down the pipeline that could be used for a Blizzcon announcement. We don’t normally get announcements about Blizzcon until the end of April. So we’ll have to wait and see.

They held Blizzcon back in 2023. They skipped last year because there was nothing to announce for that year, as the War Within and Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred, their two big launches of 2024, were already released by the time Blizzcon rolled around.
Yeah I am not flying 3,000 miles to go to one. Can it come to Atlanta or even New York? I doubt Raleigh would ever be a consideration
Although I think a West/Central/East showcase each year would be awesome.

I mean there’s a reason I play games instead of going to sweaty concerts. Find a venue with lots of space and multiple convention rooms like they did for the comic con I went to
