Blizzcon Items + Speculation

So the virtual tickets are revealed (check mmo-champ) — Murloc versions of Anduin and Sylv & … Wendigo Woolies???

Personally, I think the Wendigo Onesie thing looks awful EXCEPT THOSE PANTS! The pants would be good for some mogs IMO.

Thing is, does it hint at the next expac being Northrend or something?? Red herring?

Will we actually need to save the Lich King from Sylv :sob:

Or is it time for Bolvar/Nathanos/Sylv love triangle?

I wouldn’t mind the next expansion sending us somewhere cold and snowy again. I feel like anything being winter-themed in any game makes it ten times better and nicer (aside from Hoth in SWTOR, because that place makes my eyes bleed).

That said, I really hope they don’t rehash Northrend.

And in seriousness, I don’t think it’s actually indicating anything except cute (garrish) onesie, though I wouldn’t mind being surprised.

The real conspiracy is that murloc pets proves what I’ve insisted all along: Much like the lizardmen in our own reality, Azeroth is run by a cabal of murlocs in disguise.

My inclination is that it signals that Blizzard is kind of hard up for ideas.

Oh my god who cares about in-game pajamas. Your game is dying, tell us how you’re gonna fix it.

Edit, cuz I should actually contribute if I’m gonna talk- If I had to guess, I would say we’re headed somewhere snowy in the next expansion. Often times the items in these cases are related but not central. Like the fey dragon mount before WoD, or the runesaber before Legion. Based on past experience, my prediction is that like one zone will be mountainous and snowy, and feature wendigos as a mob frequently.

The boots of the pajamas on a Tauren are going to haunt my dreams.

I think it might because when there are items they do correlate to the game —

  • Polar bear —> WotLK (iirc)
  • Murlocs often themed to the current or next expac. Backlash/low sales when it was a repeat of the previous ticket’s pet
  • 2 airship mounts before BfA

Yeah the items usually do have SOMETHING to do with the next expansion, but typically don’t give away key things.

Good point — I seriously don’t want to go to back to Northrend (yet). It feels like it’s not time and anything they’d do there would make this dumpster fire story worse.

It’s a sign that Winter’s Veil is going to get an overhaul. That or it’s just coming up.

it feels… weird that they’re showing off andiun and sylvanas murlocs after the ~faction pride~ expac that extensively featured them in promotional material

an expac that also saw the latter abandoning her faction after throwing a hissy fit

i’m not feeling too optimistic

The murlocs will be the next biggest threat to Azeroth and we will team up with the Wendigos.

Yeah it feels weird to recoil and have hopes dashed due to this but ugh.

Saurfang said you can’t kill hope. He never met the dev team haha.

At least the pets have pets?

It kinda seems like they’re just sticking to a BfA theme with the Anduin/Sylv stuff… which makes me think they don’t plan to announce a new expansion.

I don’t remember if we’ve gotten an expac announcement before the last patch of an expansion, and 8.3 is still far off. So… I’m prepared to get no interesting WoW info from Blizzcon.

Yeah maybe a gamescon or similar reveal like Legion — feels bad though. An announcement of a better expac would be damage control at this point. Necessary, really.

My guess is those pets were made at least a year out, and they didn’t want the assets to go to waste. Their animations are even based on the launch trailer. I wouldn’t read too much into it, other than they’re from another time. A time when Blizzard still thought BfA could be cool.

That’s the entire feel of the ticket this year, honestly. Stuff they made during or before BfA and now they’re stuffing it into the ticket with a Blizzcon tag stapled to pajamas.

I find it hard to believe that we won’t at least get a teaser.

I fully expect 8.3 to be the focus of Blizzcon for WoW – they’ll probably try to hone in on some kind of climactic conclusion, a big showdown with Sylv, whatever you like.

And at the end, they’ll say, “And even further down the road, we have…” Cue short trailer

I kinda wonder if we’ll see 8.3 AND 9.0. It seems hard to do both without spoiling the end of 8.3.

Then again they seem to be shoving BfA out the door like they can’t wait to get rid of it. I didn’t see the war ending as abruptly as it did. So who knows.

lets just skip 8.3 and go straight to 9.0 eh

holinka has been hyping up blizzcon on twitter, hinting at ~big stuff~ that he can’t talk about yet and blah blah blah

normally that would leave me inclined to think that we’d actually see something big, but the devs also hyped up 8.2.5 (even said they’d livestream it then didn’t lol) and we all saw how that went down
