Time to go ahead and turn this into a post for all of my thoughts on the Blizzcon bonuses:
Obviously, if you haven’t heard, the blizzcon virtual ticket bonuses got revealed. Here is a link to the full store page. $20 USD for the Essentials, $40 for the Heroic, and $60 USD for the epic edition. This is without the virtual ticket, as Blizzcon online is fully free to watch this year. Here are some of the highlights of what is being put in it this year:
- 15% off of a Gear store purchase. (Essentials)
- Moon-touched Netherwing pet. (Essentials)
- Tracer’s OSV-03 Rogue mount + Tracer for Heroes of the Storm (Essentials)
- Snowstorm Mount (Heroic)
- 30 Days of game time (Epic)
- Diablo 3 Transmog set (Epic) - This is for Diablo 3. Not WoW.
Quite the list, isn’t it? I only listed the items which are the “big” ones to mention, however there are also hearthstone packs and SCII portraits not mentioned here. Now, for a maximum of $60, getting all of these bonuses is practically a steal. Even looking at WoW alone, the value for each individual item combined in the WoW store is 55, and that is not considering the other bonuses for other games. Despite this, there seems to be a mass pushback against a Blizzcon tradition which has existed since 2009.
The main thread for this and the various spin off threads are a mess. People asking for the HotS mount to just be transferred over, telling people that its not worth it because “If you only play WoW…” as if WoW is the only game which Blizzard owns and runs.
People are also using the blind hate against this to justify putting WoW on a pedestal. “Who cares about portraits and cosmetics for Diablo 3 and SCII, dead games?” which ignores the still very present player base for these games so that they can view WoW as the only important thing that Blizzard runs.
Here’s my problem with all of this: It is an egotistical, self-centered view to act as if World of Warcraft is the only bonuses which matter. The Blizzcon bonuses are not WoW bonuses, they are Blizzard bonuses. If you only look at it with the narrow view of just ONE GAME, you ignore the bonuses which stretch across a large number of games.

The bonuses are a good way to try and have people try other games. Seems fine. Idk if I will buy it yet. If I did it would only be the $40 version too.

You are literally saving $20 (cash money) by buying the heroic and not the epic. It would be foolish to not buy it.
The $60 is a better value slightly. Both the $40 and the $60 offer only $5 more then the normal prices for WoW alone, and the epic just has more stuff to it. $40 will probably end up as the sweet spot regardless for most people. The $20 is the only one that seems like a true waste TBH.
I was really just poking fun at how people rationalize giving away their hard earned money to snake oil companies like Blizzard.

Any idea what the Mog looks like?
Its not marked yet on the store page. Likely going to be Diablo IV related if it hasn’t been revealed yet.
Also, to clarify, its a Diablo 3 mog set. Not WoW.
That essentials package is a meme.
Have an existing Hero and Mount for HotS!
Worthless.
Hm Aus$90 for the Epic…nah, I’ll pass. I have groceries to buy and bills to pay and can’t justify that sort of expenditure, considering it has items I will never use. If they offered the WoW mount as a separate item I could possibly scrape up the gold to put into my balance to buy that, but buying a pack that is 90% stuff that will never see the light of day…nope.

Oh it’s a Diablo Mog set, I thought it was a WoW set that’s happen to be Diablo themed. Thanks for the clarification.
Only reason i bought it was for the mount in wow. I dont play those other games. If you do thats fine. But we all know they make their bread and butter from WoW and i would wager that is the main buying point for most ppl who get this

Yep. The Essentials is the only one which is 100% not worth buying whatsoever. $40 is by far the best option, but the $60 is still worth a look. No idea why someone would go for only the $20 though if they do end up buying in.
Looking at this bundle really drives home to me that WoW is the last Blizzard game I’m still playing.

Sorry I just have more money than time. I know you will never know what this feels like. I accept your (very wrong) opinion.

Thanks.
Is the game time worth the extra $20?
Or is that the only WoW related thing you get by adding in Epic?
it is. For only WoW it is not worth it, but some of the other rewards could end up good if they would actually tell us what they are.
I never understood this until I started working 60-70 hours a week. Now I have a lot of money and no time to really spend it.
I buy a lot of food and now I buy all WoW and hearthstone bundle things because otherwise everything else is just bills.

I’d love the mount and pet, but can’t justified a $40 price for them.
