We should get a next expansion announcement for WoW. I think classic Burning Crusade will be announced at Blizzconline. A launch date for Diablo 4 will be given, and they’ll explain why they cancelled Diablo Immortal.
The first one will be the 2020 Blizzcon which takes place during Feb. 2021. Yes our 2020 blizzcon is actually in early 2021. Diablo 4 stuff, a new game announcement from the Starcraft/Hots team, Overwatch 2 shiz, the next patch in WoW, and Hearthstone stuff.
The 2nd one will be the real Blizzcon 2021 later on in Fall 2021.
We will get the new expansion announcement for World of Warcraft and that’s all I care about.
after BC launches they fully expect to create new zones made in the image of vanilla/BC with new raids ect and plan to continue development of the traditional wow game mechanics.
that way i can stop being amazed with how out of touch retail devs are and stop wasting money on retail xpacs.
Blizzard loves money $$$ So they’re going to release expansions as often as they can possibly. Every 2 years.
Legion was announced in 2015. BFA was announced 2 years later in 2017. Shadowlands was announced in 2019.
The next expansion announcement is set for 2021…
We’ve been getting an expansion every 2 years in fact. The X.3 of every expansion is always long because they need extra development time to pump out the base of the expansion. the X.0 like we’re in right now for SL.
WoW is really a patch to patch game. Obviously. The biggest patches are always the X.0’s which are the Expansion launches. Then we get quicker and smaller patches afterwards based on the raid seasons. Then the last, the 4th raid season, is always longer like I said to pump out the next X.0 patch for the new expansion.
When people reference Blizzcon 2021 they are referring to the one in February (ie not the one likely later in the year in November) which was basically the one that would have happened in November
The reason i know you are right about that comment is because i know the players really want it. Classic wow is going to end eventually and morph into some musem side show server if they dont move it forward, and they could charge for it, and really how hard would it be these days to make a new open world flat and simple area and a few more instances? Cant be nearly as much as designing all the retail wow systems destined for failure and the dumpster next xpac.
They don’t actually make all of the patches of an expansion directly over the period of 2 years. They rather go patch by patch themselves. They’re always at least one patch ahead in development then release that patch. We don’t know exactly how Blizzard develops the game completely. Generally the decisions are made, the assets come first, then balancing and system tunes afterwards. Each patch is it’s own thing that’s made. They don’t make all an expansion’s patches at one time.
We found that it with BFA when we learned a lot about why the skipped development on the X.3.5 patch in favor of the expansion launch patch, X.0.
