Then don’t use it?

That’s not the point. Being able to even do that is something that shouldn’t be allowed. They’ve broken other addons for less.
I believe everything I read on the internet and believe the stories that contradict the stories I believe.
The only addons they’ve broken in such a way previously were nameplate modifiers.
Here is what the blues said on EU
" In Patch 7.2 we are disabling the ability for addons to modify the appearance of friends’ name plates while they are in dungeons and raids.
Although, for the most part, we are impressed by the creativity that addon authors bring to the game through the API and we encourage such creativity, sometimes an addon goes too far in terms of automating or trivializing elements of the game system that are intended to be a great challenge. We recently spotted a couple of addons that used visual adjustments to friends' name plates as a method to automatically coordinate complex positioning requirements. This caused what was intended to be a difficult test of the group's ability to identify positioning requirements on the fly to become a simple matter of following a visual marker.
To prevent this from continuing, we had to disable the addons' ability to modify the appearance of friend name plates in dungeons and raids. Outside of these, nothing has changed: addons will still be able to customize friend name plates on other sites (especially in PvP, where they are often used in ways that we do not consider problematic).
Also, we do not anticipate that addon authors will have to update their codes to accommodate this change. It's much simpler: customizations will stop working when the player enters a raid and will work again when they leave a raid. However, in case you want to check, this change should already be active in the current 7.2 PTR environment. "
The way this worked was by drawing a line between the 2 players telling them to get closer. WAs are vastly different.

I wish this were true but I have not seen anything on it from Blizzard so nope.

Not gonna lie, anyone that complains about addons are literally garbage… They don’t design raids around dbm or weakauras. I’ve played this game since vanilla. To THIS DAY I do not use weak auras and never have and probably never will, I don’t feel like it will help me I get done with fights and encounters just fine. I use dbm for some of the great things for mobs, but most boss fights I study the dungeon journal to learn them ahead of time. And move accordingly, I get raid content done just fine. Blaming addons existence for you not getting content done is because YOU are bad at the game and YOU are most likely a huge reason why your pug groups fail.
Add-ons also exist because it helps weed out garbage players from those that know what they are doing. Even blizzard has things set up in game to guide that along, when I post a 15/16 key I don’t need some heroic dungeon geared 100 io randy thinking they need to be carried through something. Your gaming experience is NO ONE else’s problem. Downloading Warcraft logs companion has been an amazing tool and my mythic timing % has skyrocketed because I even further weed out the garbage can players when I need to build a team.
Nothing wrong at all with being bad at the game, but stop expecting people who excel at the game to lug you around because it’s not their problem you aren’t good. Play with other people on your skill level. Or pay in game gold for it, which is most likely what you’ll need to do

The person in your discord is pulling your leg. Blizzard will never ban addons.
With that said, I’ve been playing FFXIV and when I came back to raid in WoW, I forgot to download my raiding addons… Guess what… I have not missed them and raiding is a lot more fun without them. No more addon screaming in my ear. No more big letters flashing across the screen. Just me paying attention to mechanics and it is so much more fun to raid this way! I suggest you try it!

I’ve been raiding since WoTLK, never used a single addon. I love on patch days people complain DBM and such isn’t working, but I am playing fine/the same as I always do.

Sorry you didn’t know the origins? I personally have no horse in this race nor care. But have fun being insanely offended to the point where you had to go toxic. 
One could only hope. Blizzard should be the one whose responsible for improving their UI, etc. not 3rd party addons.

Despite the fact what they said before recently about addons i really doubt it
And even then they dont need to ban all addons just the combat ones that give you an advantage in game in raids and pvp
