Legion Alpha/Beta: Aquiring legendaries is awful, it needs to be more deterministic.
Blizzard: Nah it’s fine. Fixed in a later patch on live
BfA Alpha/Beta: Azerite gear is an awful system and wildly unbalanced.
Blizzard: Nah it’s fine. Fixed in a later patch on live
Shadowlands Alpha: Player power being tied to and locked into covenants is going to be bad for the feel of classes.
Blizzard: Nah its fine. Fixed in a later patch on live???
There was a time when Blizzard having their name on a game meant it was gonna be an amazing, top of the line game. Those days are long gone. It’s all money to them now.
People are quick to blame Activision for this, but Blizzard is just as guilty. Maybe more so to blame for letting this happen.
If we were to mass unsub they’d try to make a compromise like they did in WoD with pathfinder but nope they won’t learn otherwise…they like being proven wrong time and time again
They actually said “we’re going to attempt to work with it, but if we can’t get it to work we will fall back on allowing you to switch easily between covenants” they did not say “nah it’s fine”
They never listen until it’s too late. I mean even just look at corruption gear. Or the HoA being the most boring thing in the history of WoW, taking forever to add essences. It took them what? 6 Months to add a corruption vendor? And instead of allowing us to buy the corruption we actually need it’s on a stupid cycle.
Someone will have to verify this, but I believe they’ve said their goal is that it be tied to the covenants but they’re not discounting the feedback on it or closing the conversation. If that means they’ll fix it by launch or 9.3, who knows?
Only when it blows up in their faces catastrophically and revenue (sum of sales, subscriptions, microtransactions and everything else) goes down the toilet.
Poor critical and player reception won’t be enough, it has to hit them where it hurts – the bottom line.
They improve in some areas, then mess up in others. It’s like they feel the need to balance things out so they don’t come across as being too good at their jobs or something.
They appear to be listening to some degree in regards to Shadowlands alpha testing though, so there is that. Hopefully they keep it up and listen to things that truly matter and not just what they want to hear. Probably not, but a man can dream.
No, given the age of the game, if we mass unsubbed, they’d table the game and move on to something deemed more popular and lucrative by the suits who don’t actually play video games yet make these decisions based on trend data.
