Retail started dying long before the token was introduced. In fact i remember mostly positive posts back then about the token and how everyone bought it for 12 month subs or longer.
I would say other things will kill off classic before a token that can be ignored by players.

It seems like (as usual) blizz was wrong and is finally listening to the players who wanted RDF but are wording it in a way to make it seem like they had planned for it all along…

The first major hit to retail was in Cata, long after RDF was added. MoP kind of stabilized things then WoD torpedoed it, which is when the token was added.

show us all this evidence of the wotlk classic community clamoring for wow tokens? Especially in relation to the stern opposition to the random dungeon finder. You know, 1 thing that didnt exist untill a decade after wotlk vs a thing that actually came into the game during wotlk.
Just like all the invisible people who really wanted heroic+, its actually air, or a lack thereof. Hard vacuum where classic goes to suffocate. But all those invisible folks must really have some sway over the devs.
I mean at least they gave back the xp buff, so the solo slog to max gets a little easier and all those new fresh 80’s can bash thier faces in on the [Heroic] “no im only doing h+ sorry” /kick awesomeness

I agree, I tried to go back and look for the specific instance(s) where they stated “it won’t be until 3.3 then we’ll see” it was only in one circumstance where they stated pre-launch “no RDF bc our values”
I don’t like to grab at specific wording but man, gotta feel like Blizzard’s lying to themselves about what they did/said sometimes.

I think it helps that the bulk (my estimate) of the people screaming against it are playing HC on era now. 
So I guess us plebes get to have fun finally.

Yep and they got what they wanted…It’s funny to see things turn out pretty much as expected
I will say seeing the token being added was very unexpected though. Seems like a bad move but they have to do some damage control because the people who bought gold have ruined the economy.

Oh for sure, it’s likely a trade off for them. “Give them the Token, but also give them JJ with talks about potentially adding in RDF”

Blizzard’s employee turnover rate almost guarantees their communication problems will always exist in the state it is… Just enough communication to keep you hopeful of change that will never actually materialize.
No clue what the low level turnover rate is, but high level is pretty normal for the industry.
I bet they’ll add it to the last phase like in OG wrath. What i’ve been telling people since the beginning of wrath classic.

Plus every single poll pre announcement was pro rdf.
Most people are no or little change to classic, and want classic as it was. Classic as it was is RDF during ICC
Nah, I remember the same few people popping in to every pro RDF post and trying to argue against it.
You literally couldn’t make a post about RDF without them giving their input about how bad it would be for the game.
They even went so far as to report those posts to have them removed.
They probably don’t even play anymore.

There are WAY more people that are going to come to the forums and complain that no rdf is in the game. People that are against rdf have no reason to come to the forums and complain
