Blizzard's Response to RDF in CC Live Chat

You’ve learned a lot from me tonight and you’re welcome.

Projecting.

You made the error by assuming blizzard took into account people’s thoughts instead of profits which many people have quit the game due to them discarding the portion of fans that were against wow tokens.

I’m sure blizzard has some general idea of the percent of players buying gold and they took that into consideration when deciding to add the token. And given how quickly the token is selling they seemed to have been correct in that projection.

Yeah that’s what they did.

Absolutely. How long have you been playing this game if you still believe blizzard when they make assurances? I don’t believe anything that comes out of blizzard since they’ve lied so often for so many years. Each time the players accepted a change the next change was more likely. And you accepted at least one major change, removal of rdf which was in for almost half of wrath. You as much as gave them permission to make more major changes.

Now I know you’re a paid shill.

It’s a shame you’re incapable of rational dialog. I’ve been no changes from the start and I still am. I’m against the token in classic. I was against things like the pally seal change which was embraced by the players. You’re the one who is for the changes you like and against the changes you don’t like. But you see, when ever you’re for the changes you like you’re giving them permission to make more changes. Changes you may not like. You’re getting with this token exactly what you deserve for not sticking with no changes as an absolute.

I’m no changes not because I don’t want some changes. In my mind I could list several changes I wanted from day one in classic. But my public position has always been no changes because even if I got changes I wanted I knew if we let them make changes blizzard would eff it up. In the end there would be changes I hate.

I have disliked the vast majority of changes. I was upset that they went with one talent design for the whole game/expansions instead of the ones that existed from patch to patch. This mainly pertains to pally. That being said you kind of take what you can get based on statements they made for what to expect. They went against their own assurances/statements as to what would and wouldn’t happen. You can’t say I was supportive of that by not putting my foot down earlier or whatever. Some things are in the scale of believability for tuning whatever it is they’re trying to offer, but stuff like the wow token is just absurd to me and most people. I would hate for RDF to be in the game, but I also hate how lazy everyone is when it comes to dungeons, so maybe I’d use it. But the wow token thing fundamentally changes the soul of the game. I’m being vague but it’s been said what it impacts many times in many threads.

yes and with this specific version of “wrath” blizzard put out, they made it 20x easier for them to do that. lesser penalties for RMT than there were before, adding boosts, allowing players to make one DK per account without needing a level 55.

if blizzard perma banned bots/RMT with actual humans reviewing said bans, do you think there would be as many bots farming, and do you think as many people would be buying gold? illegal gold prices would have gone up since yknow… more work/time would be needed to actually farm said gold. if blizz actually yknow… removed the boosts, removed the xp boosts, removed the “free” dk per account and actually punished bots/gold sellers… I think gold sales/RMT wouldn’t be as high.

this is current blizzard’s fault, and now they’re cashing in on their own mistakes.

EDIT: fixed wording, sorry if it was confusing:)

It is, but it’s too late. Blizzard should have made it’s position agaisnt gold buying in the first few months of classic with bans then. After years of ignoring the problem they couldn’t start banning players in wrath, making players with several capped characters lose them all and start over.

honestly that’s the best counter i’ve heard from anyone about this topic. appreciate it:)

obv i’m still pro- ban em, but, genuinely that’s the best response i’ve gotten. imo i get people wanting it, i just don’t see why blizz has to keep adding stuff that wasn’t in game at the time vs holding out on stuff that was in game at the time under the guise of “we want to protect the pillars of classic” (adds watered down M+, adds a vendor with HM ulduar loot, adds 25m loot to 10m tables because of watered down M+, adds wow token)

i’m still waiting for them to let me transfer characters from my horde account to my main alliance account (account transfers originally added in TBC)

if only they took this stance for every system that came in wrath instead of singling this one out for no reason

I dont remember them ever mentioning waiting for 3.3 but rather that it just was not coming.

Im just amazed it took them this long to realize how it is affecting a lot of players, on a lot of servers.

My opinion?

Blizz wanted to stretch out the time of Wrath… RDF makes dailies a breeze, especially if your an early bird like me and awake before the Guild. Also never doubt there is a Bean Counter somewhere who pointed out the financial benefit of charging for transfers.
We all know Blizzard is deficient in communication. I do have faith that that will improve in the future, The fast content release in retail gives me hope things are turning around…

Same, which means they’re in damage control.

I think they though Ulduar would last much longer than it has. Especially with the population of the mid sized servers dropping like a stone.

Also, the way HC on Era looks just screams “we’re bored and made up something to do”. By the streamer community. (Anything to keep themselves relevant there.) Also, a removal of those players for our “LF Tank” social interactions we’re currently forced to do in /4.

Same, I work 3rd shift atm and RDF would keep me engaged more than the bot infested BGs do.

This is probably the main reason blizz hasn’t just flipped the switch to allow us to cross realm dungeon group manually like they did with pvp.

RDF was used as a scape goat for actual problems in later game design and general changes in the gaming community. And blizzard drank that coolaide because it’s an easy excuse.

Which is of course BS as we’ve had 3 years of classic proving that RDF was in no way responsible for changes in how people play WoW, but sure keep telling us how RDF was the sole cause of changes in how people socialize in game…

Damage control is right, but as usual, it’s a day late and a dollar short.

Id hate to see how dead the small servers (like mine) are by the end of ToGC.
