it’s not that, it’s that getting older usually means no longer judging “maturity” by the number of swear words, sex/drug references, etc. a piece of media contains
i always think of shows like that ‘riverdale’ or whatever it is. it’s full of drugs, sex, violence, naughty stuff! who watches it? no adults i know. it’s aimed squarely at teens who want to show everyone how grown-up they are because they watch such “mature” content.
Its not necessarily total war that i require. It’s the end to coddling the pacifists. Yes there should be safe zones. But the entire world shouldn’t be able to be turned into a safe zone with no recompense for trespass.
Brewa (my favorite poster exponentially) While i agree with your data, when i was in an active raiding guild on Emerald Dream pretty much everyone was mid to late 30s and 40% were female (RP Realm). There were 5 or 6 vanilla wow players in their 60s, but it was a bit difficult being in that category sometimes. Everyone was nice, but it was still the B team mainly, (other than 2 of the leaders). I finally went back to solo play, where most players seem to be old grumpy men.
What makes you think older people prefer the “game of thrones” vibe, by which I’m wondering if you mean blood n boobies? As an older person I personally don’t need the game of thrones vibe.
And your assumption is flawed in another way. There are LOTS of young people playing the game.
Nope. Its just a discussion. The same way you are here doing the exact thing you say I shouldnt with me.
I disagree that bigotry should be tolerated and allowed to manifest. If you feel it should be protected, thats fine. But I find it odd you are calling me out for disagreeing with someone…while you are sitting here disagreeing with me.
If you felt your actual point was sincere, you’d merely let me also say whatever I want.
Game of thrones had some of the best writing on TV pre season 7. Sure the boobs were nice but that was hardly the selling point. Also the books are amazing.
(replying to Yangziping, but I used the wrong button )
I found the books disappointing after the first one. It became a game of “who will Martin kill off next”–not a fun storyline FOR ME. By the one he last wrote I was completely disinterested and had no desire to finish the series.
I did like the TV show for the most part. I admit candidly that I’ve never seen the red wedding episode–my son warned me it was next and we skipped to the one after it.
So your point about Game of Thrones is a valid one.
However, I do stand by my first point. Just because someone has some years on them doesn’t guarantee that they like R-rated (or higher) content, or want it in WoW.
You are the one telling me to stop voicing my opinion.
I understand that was your point. I understand that your point is based on dishonest conversation. Because you didnt actually show how I was injecting my own biases into any conversation.
“What? The person that equates LGBTQIA with politics, complains that politics being injected into Dragonflight are ruining WoW? And you called him out on it? Stop injecting your biases”
Specifically. What bias do you feel I am pushing into the conversation? The bias that removing people with certain sexual identities is wrong? The bias that we its ok to have representation?
Sorry, but the way you present yourself on these forums comes across as attempts to silence anyone that doesn’t agree with your opinions. I’ve seen you on many occasions trying to belittle and bully people that don’t align with your views, often inserting words and opinions into your comments that were never made by the people you are focusing on.
Sorry, but that commenter never said anything about LGBTQ anything in their post. You just decided to project your own politics and biases into this conversation. Their comments were pretty vague.
People have been complaining about politics in WoW since 2004, the fact that you have singled out this one issue just proves my point I’m trying to make here.
You’re complaining about this person voicing their political views here, but what the heck are you doing with your replies?
The irony is not lost here.
So now you’re judging me here?
This is what I’m talking about, you’re just as guilty as the commenter you’re responding to for dragging politics into the forums.
Like I said, the best way to deal with people with horrible opinions is just to ignore them, instead of shining a big giant spotlight on their bad takes.
You are literally the one telling me to not respond to people.
Yes, but the commenter has regularly equated LGBTQ with politics.
The commenter is the one that has regularly singled out LGBTQ issues in WoW, and equating it with politics.
Then by all means ignore me. You have shown you dont like my takes at all. Yet you respond to me, saying I should keep quiet and not talk to certain people.
I can’t stand Game of Thrones and particularly can’t stand other IPs trying to do what it does. Burning the tree permanently checked me out of the storyline. They must have got the memo because of this . . . other direction, but by now it’s lost to me. The story is something I avoid, I was never all about it but now I actually go out of my way to not deal with it.
I do surges, rifts, some LFR, fyrakk, and no storyline. Only thing that gives rep is fyrakk. Between all those things I can get kitted out as much as I want, after I turn entirely purple (not gonna craft this late in the season so getting the last few pieces might take awhile), I will be gathering in old content so I can normal fly and make money.
TL;DR: The worst thing this game has ever done for the story was get all game of thrones. What we have currently isn’t good by any means, but at least it’s not that.
