I am saying that is a political view point. Not a dev view point. That is currently something on the conservative agenda.
They want to eradicate certain life styles irl. They want certain lifestyles to be removed, shunned, etc.
So if one asks for those same things to be removed from visibility in WoW…I am saying that is still a politcal agenda they are asking to be used in game. They are just ok with it, because its their own political agenda.
When players state they want inclusion, specifically of different lgbtqia+ relationships to stop being portrayed in WoW…
Do you not feel that they are asking for things to be removed in future expansions?
Yes, its typically kept vague because most of the time these people realize they cant straight up say “I am tired of seeing lgbtqia people”. They know what they want will paint them in a negative light.
So they keep it vague. “I am tired of the inclusion”. “I am tired of the SJW story lines”. Which, if pressed, they will acknowledge that this means specific sexual representations. Because that is the only thing every complained about within the context of “pushing their political agendas in game”.
I think you’re reading into things here. Projecting your own insecurities into the conversation. The poster never mentioned anything about LGBTQ people at all.
We should stick to the topic at hand here as well, I feel like you strayed into areas that are not appropriate for this forum.
What personal beliefs/politics do you feel are being injected into Dragonflight?
I know you wont answer this, because the only answer is what I stated. So your only possible rebuttal is to play dumb and deflect.
Edit : The person I responded to, multiple times has derided WoW and games in general for inserting politics, and describing those politics specifically as lgbtqia+ stuff.
The game has always had personal beliefs and political influence of the developers in the game, so I don’t know where you’re trying to go with this comment.
I’ve been playing WoW a long time, people complained about certain story elements since this game launched. How is this any different?
Edit: Perhaps you’re letting your own politics influence your responses to this poster?
I mean there are a lot of other metrics that prove we have been surpassed in most ways. I’m all america all day but I don’t need to lie, twist, or cherry pick. Yes we need to do better. We are still the best overall country in my opinion but looking at individual metrics we fall short of being the top dog.
considering how things are, at least in the US, it’s not surprising. Nobody can be offended about anything. I barely come to these forums anymore but remember seeing people upset over quests involving torture, or pictures … in the game that were too…revealing? Blizzard/WoW doesn’t have the luxury of complete creative freedom.
Boston, in particular, is a center for advancment in AI and Biotech. Much of this comes out of having schools like Harvard and MIT near by along with other Universities with STEM education. Apparently having educated people around has an impact.
Silicon Valley is a center for advancement in software, again being an education center.
I would think kids and teens don’t necessarily play this game to begin with. If anything, Generation Alpha or Bravo would play Minecraft or Fortnite.
But I digress. WoW is sort of an offshoot for teens who first decided to play Runescape 2, or some other MMO. I remember a long time ago a friend of mine went from said game to WoW. But that was ONLY because of nerdy peer pressure.
Aren’t these schools enrolling foreign students as well? To the tune of up to 20% of general population actually. During my time, i was one of few EEs that were native born.
Yet, most silicon semi conductor is constructed and designed in South Korea and Taiwan.
Studies have shown that education only relates really to unemployment rate. More educated people tend to have jobs.
The overall story direction has always been somewhat PG in regards to WoW itself, the cartoon style art direction of WoW adds to it. However, Blizz will at times have snippets of content or scenes that are slightly more mature, an example being the dwarf dragon lamenting about his black dragon lover/friend at the Ruby Lifeshrine that he was forced to kill or the children crying over the bodies of their impaled parents of that one town in Stormsong.
The story in is also perhaps an aspect the majority of WoW players ignore I’d say and Blizzard has probably concluded the playerbase has the attention span of a goldfish when it comes to such things, so hence why it’s more “simple” and “PG” in aspects and not GoT quality like you were hoping for. I would also argue that the community isn’t mature enough for such a story since the mere inclusion of gay characters does cause a collective meltdown.
