Blizzard's Insider Trading

Bobby says he won’t resub !

Bobby giving out or letting slip insider information is not Bobby profiting from it. Don’t get my wrong here, I think he should be under the microscope for selling shares after announcing buybacks and then not buying back shares, but in this case he’s more a witness than a suspect.

Except someone buying 108 million in shares of a company, just before a merger sends a message to traders that something is happening. Then you start to see day traders and investment firms speculate that a merger or sale or announcement is happening. Then they advise their investors to buy into said stock. Which will increase the stock’s value. Then the stock price will be higher at the announcement of the merger and add more fuel to the investment fire.

In the end people who had the stock or bought the stock early, get some large financial gains through selling high or through dividends. (Bobby gets a lot of his salary and income from his shares in the company)

Insider trading happens every day. It gives people advantages in the stock market, and it also influences the market. As it can artificially inflate stock prices, create buying or selling trends in some stocks ect.

Now don’t you try and ruin a good fake outrage thread with your logic!

I know it’s an innocent typo, but I still love it.

Was that someone Bobby? Bobby is responsible for what Bobby does. The people that bought shares with insider information are responsible for what they did and should get Martha Stewart’s old cell if they’re guilty.

And where did they get the information? Thin air?

But… why?

Exactly. Millions of companies out there but that’s the one you dump 108 million into just before the announcement.

probably why its a probe, evidently.
Easy enough to do something illegal…‘insider’ trading…by giving information to someone who will work in ones best interest for them, but doesnt ‘work for’ the company.
John wants to insider trade but doesnt want to go to prison. John tells Jack now is a good time to buy up stock X. Jack repays the favor by 'loaning" John a bunch of money, which John never actually repays.

This is just the “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” playing out.

Investigation is ongoing. I haven’t the slightest clue.

That’s okay because if both parties stop being in bed with each other due to one of them leaving the board then obviously no one will suspect a thing. Apparently. /s

people realize that a board of directors for a massive international corporation isn’t a social club, right? people who serve on the board together may well be friends who chat all the time. they might only see or speak to each other at meetings or on calls. they might hate each other on a deep level.

these people are elected to the board. they’re not a group of close pals who decided to start a board of directors together.

I don’ think giving out insider information is illegal, most of the time it’s called a press release. Now if they paid Bobby for it that’s a different thing.

The crime is trading on insider information not possessing it. ( which is impossible not to do for a CEO )

Those two are not even in the same ballpark.

The trade already happened days before the merger. But let’s call it luck and agree to disagree.

If it is true, it is a white collar crime… they’ll spend no time in jail.

I gotta tell ya, I’m enjoying the constant Blizzard dumpster fire.

By who? The article didn’t say it was Bobby doing the insider trading. David Geffin and Barry Diller are not Bobby Kotic.

If Bobby is guilty of insider trading he should go to prison, If he’s not he shouldn’t. But the operative word here is “Trading”

There are things he probably should have been forced out or done some time for, but insider trading he didn’t do isn’t one of them.

I knew this wasn’t going anywhere and that’s why I said “let’s agree to disagree.”

Yeah well most people are saying “David Geffin and Barry Diller are not Bobby Kotic”, and that there is no connection between Barry and Bobby. Hell they might even say Barry’s trade was pure luck.

Sir, what’s at question here is how did Barry get this information that led to this trade days before the merger was announced publicly. You know what? You’re right, I was wrong. My bad. You win. You got me. Let’s end it please.
