We appreciate you noticing the kiting environment that is happening within mythic dungeons and the fact that you did make some good changes. But you’re also missing one key factor.
Buffs.
It seems like only dps classes are getting buffs which I know they deserve. But you’re still forgetting to buff tank classes as well.
You need to prioritize the classes that have the least kiting ability and making sure they are getting a lot more stronger and then look at classes that do the least amount of damage because those will struggle to keep aggro.
You’re getting closer blizzard. Just please look at buffing tanks.
Agree so much with you. This is my main and Tank only in pve, but in raid I dps, Our guild alt tank is a druid and he is a fine player and tank, but paly main tank and myself seem to pull aggro from him quite easily.
Why? If kiting isn’t necessary, then not having a kit that is good at kiting doesn’t matter anymore. (Most weeks. They really might want to think about removing or replacing Necrotic, since they’ve already acknowledged that the style of gameplay it promotes is unhealthy and, to many tank players, unfun.)
A nerf to the damage of things that are hitting tanks is equivalent to a buff to the survivability of all the tanks that get hit.
I certainly don’t think they should assume that balance is done now – they’ve hardly even looked at healers either, for example – but when they change mobs in a way that most powerfully affects tanks, it’s reasonable to not immediately also change tanks themselves.
I’m blown away it took them this long to address the fact the issue exists. This was a day 1 issue. Even with all the suggestions provided on the forums regarding which mobs need to be looked at they still miss some major ones.
Protection warriors can’t deal enough damage and hold aggro against good DPS, and their mitigation typically falls under the total of other tanks after factoring in Ignore Pain. They just don’t push rage and damage in general, and The Wall is barely a bandaid.
You can’t really solve the kitting “problem”. If you go high enough with your keys, you’ll eventually forced to kite. Such is the nature of scaling in m+. Reducing mob damage only means people will be able to push higher this week without kiting.
Payback for the corruption tanking that occurred. The universe requires balance and this brings them back to the role of TANK and not DPS with a shield.
And you wonder why you see less and less tanks at high level keys. Its just not fun for them. Blizzard does not care anymore lets be honest. We will still play the game as it slowly dies out
As of last week I just stopped doing keys completely. Leather has three drops with haste/vers (best tank stats for dh) out of 49 total PVE bosses.
The remaining 11 bis pieces for me are all in arenas. As of yesterday I quit tanking pve, swapped covenants from Kyrian to NF and the community has now lost another strictly PVE tank.
There is no point in me doing any raiding or m+ when there is NOTHING in 9 raid bosses or 32 dungeon bosses that is going to increase my survivability or damage.
Whats the solution for tanks that like running content to see upgrades drop? Only three pieces for DH tanks drop from ALL pve content (four world bosses, 32 dungeon bosses and 10 raid bosses on three difficulty settings).
Why would I even waste time playing an MMORPG when every PVE game mode drops gear for only four of five players in the dungeon?
I play this game to upgrade my character and get better. The only way to do that this season for me this season is doing rated PVP arenas.
These changes will help other tanks perform better in upper mid level keys (15 and under), but it just moves the goalposts. When the damage keeps scaling and tanks themselves arent adjusted, you’ll still see 75%+ being DH as they have the best kiting ability, best damage, ranged stuff with sigils, threat generation, and great survivability if played right.
Other tanks are still lacking utility and much more compared to DH.
