Blizzard, will Microsoft let you talk to us again like the old days?

I’m glad your oppressors are leaving and you can be a free spirit again, so you think you can come chill with us in game or on the forums like you did back in the day?

I’d only seen a GM in-game one time and it was truly memorable (you helped us fix a glitch in ICC!)

So I wonder if we can get that kind of interaction again.

I know 95% of WoW players are bitter pieces of garbage, me included, but even the worst of us get a little thrill when we see a GM in game.

Edit: I lied, I also saw Omar during Classic closed beta.

I never associated the lack of GMs with Activision. It seemed that kind of stuff was fading before Blizzard got bought out.

Their old CS models were not sustainable. Things were destined to become automated.

Note - this is by no means an endorsement for automation.

How woke is microsoft? Do they also hate beautiful women and need to replace them with fruit?

I remember stress testing WC3 on IRC with devs. It truly was gamers making games for gamers.

None of those people still work at Blizz.

It’s all Activision, all the time.

It depends on the kind of fruit. Some of those will need to be replaced with kale.

Customer Service in WoW was literally the best in the industry back in the day. Granted, I only filled out a handful of tickets in Vanilla but each time I was literally talking to an actual person within 10 minutes. I think that was quite integral in attracting new players, and more importantly, keeping new players. When you’re having an issue and the game company is helpful and welcoming and seems like they care about you as a player (whether sincere or not), that sends a very positive message.

Nowadays you spend an hour navigating the menus as Blizz tries gets players to fix everything themselves. Finally fill out a ticket and if you’re lucky you might get a reply in a few days. They’ve tried to automate EVERYTHING. Customer service is just horrible.

Will that change? I doubt it. Customer service is a popular area in which big companies ‘trim the fat’. I don’t see Microsoft coming in and saying, "Ok, we need to triple the amount of GMs, pay them more, actually assign individual GMs to individual games (there is no such thing anymore, as GMs do support for all Blizzard games), etc, etc. to bring back customer support like it was in the beginning. It’s just one of those things where it’s broke, but it would cost more to fix it than the good it would do…in their eyes.
