Blizzard we send alpha and beta invites at random!

Same people always seem to get it. So random. It’d be random if we didn’t see the same people get it every time.

Well im sure for press it isn’t random, but for normies like us, it is. I got alpha for DF, and SL but not for WWI yet so i guess its pretty random so far.

They have been very very transparent about how they are handed out. It has not changed in many many many many years.

Closed Alpha (usually rather small testing group):

  • Internal Staff first
  • Friends and family
  • Press, Influencers, focus group sorts - like class “experts”, etc.
  • Sometimes random selections from the opt-in pool. This is not actually common. Alphas are sometimes limited to just targeted invites.

Closed Beta (Bigger testing group):

  • Internal Staff first
  • Friends and family
  • Press, Influencers, focus group sorts - like class “experts”, etc. Raid groups for raid focus testing.
  • About 90% are random selections from the opt-in pool
  • For War Within, buying the Fancy version will get those people a slot in one of the Beta invite waves. They did not say when I don’t think.

As the tests go on, they add participates in waves based on testing need. So people who did not get into the Beta during an early test wave, might get selected in a later test wave.

Blizzard has never ever pretended that there were not a group of people who have special invites. They were always open about that. Yes, some people are considered special and get guaranteed invites.

So many content creators have gotten it. Thankfully not all the large twitter users lol. But one I know did.
