Why else would we have to earn their trust with the trust levels? I’m not going out of my way to earn that trust. I’m going to act and post like I normally do. Otherwise, I’m like a dog having to do tricks for a treat. If Blizzard really wanted to handle this correctly, they would have started everyone with the highest trust levels and given them an opportunity to lose it.
It was a system made by another company which based it off of other platforms. They wanted to make things easier for them on their end, but a lot of the quirks like trust and such are just side effects of what the original company tossed in.
600+ post in 3 weeks, he might put you in that catagory.
Except I don’t give a rat’s behind about trust levels. I am also replying to stuff about as much as I did before.
That’s what I was thinking, they put rep grinding in the forums lmao
Yeah, quirks like changing my posting toon on the forums every time I login. Even the previous two generations of forum software could handle that. Progress, go figure.
Don’t forget loot boxes, I mean “like” boxes coming next year.
In all seriousness, I think it goes back to less hands off by the CMs so that we listen to trusted posters and ignore the trolls. We just need fun icons or text to reflect said trolls or higher status.
Maybe even set your forum settings to view high trusters and their answers. I grew up with IRC and old chats from the 90s so sorting through trolls was half the experience.
Have you met the forum community?
I wouldn’t trust us either.
It’s not that bad at least, reminder you need an active sub to use the forums, so trolling though it still does happen is from what i can tell a lot less compared to other forums.
I mean have you seen the steam forums on nearly any game?
Come on. I’m not a crazy person. Sheesh.
I swear, some of you actively look for something to complain about.
Either ways, you’ve seen some of the posts that are made, this “trust” system is pretty lenient
Well I didn’t say it was more efficient for us… I think it was for them heh.
Over the years, I’ve seen quite a number of people come to the forums ban-fishing. Essentially seeing how horrible they could be prior to a moderator catching up to them. I’ve also seen gold selling companies, phishing posts, and a bunch of stuff that really shouldn’t be here in the first place.
The whole trust level thing takes about 10 minutes to get where you were in the old forums. It’s the new stuff that we have to show we’re capable of handling. The ability to embed pictures and links from anywhere on the Internet isn’t something that should probably be handed out to everyone don’t you think?
I can certainly imagine what someone may do in a rage. We see it in text already. Now imagine if that person had access to post images.
Seems to me that the trust level system seeks to remind us to be civil in our discussions. Maybe that is a good thing?
That’s my point. They want us to prove, or in your words show, that we are capable of handling the new features.
I’m not sure what the point is. They’ve given us the ability to do more. But they want to see if we’re capable of using it appropriately. If you’re running around getting forum suspensions in the first week or so? You’re probably not capable of using these new tools responsibly.
What’s your alternative? Give it to everyone and just issue a thousand forum bans in the first week?
Which has zero to do with posting here and giving your opinions. It’s new random things that are meaningless to posting in general. No one is stopping you from posting right from the start. I was posting here before I even renewed my subscription.
You have the same privileges you had before. Nothing changed except how many upvotes you can give out.
You’re upset about a non issue.
Ok. Whats wrong with that?
I’m not upset about anything…except maybe that I have to go back to work tomorrow.
You think too poorly of the forum community.
Just post like normal and don’t concern yourself about it. For those of us who hang out here regularly trust is quickly and easily earned and maintained. For people who only come here once in a blue moon (also known as “the riff-raff”) the restrictions on lower trust levels shouldn’t matter because they clearly have no interest in foruming all that much.
