Right now, WoW is like playing a game with a broken Atari joystick from the 80s… Barely able to reassign cosmetics and hawk wares on AH. With the housing, I do get Warlords of Draenor vibes. That was 11 years ago so that may have changed since then. Midnight is really very 50-50, wait and see for now.
This is where I’m at right now.
One thing many of us lose sight of is just how old WoW really is. The game entered development in 1997 and released in 2004. Think of games running during that time: Simcity 3000, Simcity 4, HomeWorld 1 and 2, Quake, Starcraft 2 was a national sport in South Korea. Oh, Limewire and Kazaa was the real crack of the internet. The Apple Ipod was all the rage too…
Fast forward another decade to the mid 2010s, there was SWTOR, FFXIV, STO, GW2 along with many other titles which still survives to this day to my greatest surprise. While on a 10 year gaming hiatus, I never imagined that any of these game would still be online in 2024 due to the nature of change in technology.
This is not the end of WoW opinion. There is an economic reality. WoW may become too expensive to keep operational in retail. This game started out with 40 employees and now currently has over 500. The cost translates to between 85 to 105 million per year. Maintaining older versions of WoW would cost very little in comparison.
This gave me an aneurysm trying to decipher what this said. It’s like you just threw words together.
Is it safe to assume you’re upset about the Midnight patch?
Midnight is still work in progress. So, we should keep that in mind until after release.
I was just thinking earlier, about my oldest character (not this one) made back in TBC, and how she basically turns 22 this year… it blew my mind.
