Blizzard please do not tie the class abilities to the covenant system. Change this to be either a talent row, or say like some forge you go to pick your class ability.
You will be forcing a lot of people to pick the covenant with the best ability for their class. While not all will, but a majority of the community will pick the best.
We can clearly see some are far better than others. Regardless of tuning numbers some will always just be flat out better.
There is already a whole bunch of these posts, but this just shows the community is begging you blizzard to change this now before it’s too late.
You’ve already shown at the end of BFA and early shadowlands to be listening to the players, ie; account wide essences, pvp vendors, and so on.
So please reconsider this blizzard!

Yeah, I would definitely pick Night Fae for the Death and Decay replacement that adds power to me (as well as the teleport a short distance ahead perk.)
These are because I mainly solo. So some other DK may feel locked into another choice; Of course a raider/mythic person will probably feel locked into a particular choice. You will likely see a site like icyveins saying X covenant is really the “only choice” for X class who does X thing mainly.

A much better solution would be that covenants MODIFY existing abilities, largely in cosmetic ways but also in utilitarian ones.
So Venthyr turns my fireballs purple and gives them a small AOE burst on impact, Kyrian turns them yellow and gives them a small DOT.
Player power stays much the same regardless of choice, so players don’t feel pressured to make their covenant choice based on the type of content they prefer, and feel better about making the choice strictly on aesthetic lines.

The best solution is simple. Once you max a Covenant you unlock the ability to begin working on another and can switch between them in a rested area.
There’s still a level of commitment cause it could take a month or two to max a covenant

Covenant should only be cosmetic.
I am also pretty sure that he speak for all those that hate being for into a bis, aka nearly all the community with the azerite and corruption gear.

I am sure the OP talks for the smallest part of the playerbase.
Most people are hyped by Covenants as they are, and want them as they are being announced.
Most of what OP says goes against what would be logical for most people to want.

And now all the people that hate corruption because of the bis
Its very easy to see that the same thing that got a lot of hate the two last expansion will also generate the same amount of hate.
Probably even more since covenant is a bigger part of the expansion…

There’s no data to support your thoughts either.
I am happy about covenants and think it will be cool, but I definetly don’t wanna be pigeon holed into one. I think cosmetically would be a great idea, everyone loves transmogs now that’s a fact.
