This take never gets old. Engineering has been watered down to crafting bracers, helms, and toys. The potion bombs aside, what few combat items it has are relegated to being used only outside, and even then are not worth the cost of materials or the GCD. Oh, and those potion bombs? Unless you’re a healer, you’re trolling if you use those over Tempered Potions, which they share a cooldown with.
Speaking of which, all of the outdated and now useless bombs share a cooldown with combat potions as well. Even when they were current content, they were not worth using because of the shared cooldown with combat potions, nor were they worth using simply for being a waste of resources in exchange for puny damage that wasted a far more valuable GCD.
Engineering is not a combat profession and it hasn’t been for a very long time. It can complement Tinkers thematically, but it never has and never will match the capabilities of the conceptual Tinker class to utilize Azeroth’s vast array of technologies in combat.
Get back to me when Engineers can place a teleporter beacon that beams in waves of explosive bots, hop inside of a mech-suit, gap close with thrusters, crash down with an explosive gigavolt burst, follow that up with an area barrage from a buster cannon, hop out, apply party-wide energy barriers, and call in G.E.A.R. to fly overhead and carpet bomb the area while you ride on a gd Mechano-tank and blitzkrieg some mfs.
It’s all there and then some, existing within the game already and not being used. An awesome class concept that has been left on the table after close to two decades of people begging for Tinkers.
I’d prefer Dark Titanmancer - Combine powers of the void and order to wield unholy powers the universe did not foresee. Corrupted titan magic with dark energies that form monstrosities to do your bidding, tank, and weild their powers to slay your foes.
Comes with its own home in the cosmos that is otherworldly. A background of the universe itself appears in the background as your house seems celestial and magestic amidst the many galaxies present.
I have been on team tinker for a long time, so I hope my comment didnt come across that I didnt want them. I was trying to convey that if this survey is true, during future discussions of classes like Tinker or Necromancers those naysayers wont have those tired old arguments we hear all too often such as: engineering are tinkers/ or we have Necromancers, they are called death knights to stand on. Blizzard sees them as future classes.
Agreed! Assuming that if it’s an official Blizz survey, I’d imagine that the names are more like placeholders. But a Drust themed Witch would be pretty rad.
Yea. I mean, Evoker had its way of being pretty unique, as did Demon Hunter. I would think if they did another caster it would have to be somehow unique and not just in looks. Even Evoker has stuff in common with Warlock. It’s hard at this point to tell what would make sense.
I did assume that based on your comment, my mistake. Hopefully my reply didn’t read as too antagonistic when it was more of a “frack Engineering,” “frack the ‘no Tinkers because we have Engineering’ argument,” and “dude just think about how sick Tinkers would be.”
And yeah I agree. It’s really nice to get that affirmation from Blizzard, if even unofficially and assuming it’s real. In the end this is a game, and it can get really ridiculous when people argue against adding thematically appropriate and FUN things to the game.
Just look at my character! I’m obsessed. And going to the Undermine is a dream come true. I’m so stoked for all of the mechanical transmogs we’ll be getting. Tinker is my soul-class. I need it and I will forever main it, and it feels so much closer now than it ever has before. It’s happening, I know it.
and here I was having a bit of a chat a while ago about how an astral class that uses comic powers such as the constellar (not balance druids) would actually make me this play this game again a bit more… this survey is indeed interesting only for the chance of such class.
