Ever since Evokers came out, my Deep Breath, Land Slide and Dream Flight, specifically ONLY my range selecting abilities have not been working correctly like 75% of the time.
I have my Deep Breath for example bound to Alt-1 and my Land Slide to Alt-3 and more often than not I deal with the ability cancelling out automatically with a “target too close” error even if my target is like 40 yrds away and I’m fighting on perfectly flat ground I’ll get this error. Incidentally it doesn’t even rely on the range of a target, it’s not even a strictly RANGED ability, the range is optionally selected.
I’m not the only one with the issue either, my guild members deal with it too and had to rebind these abilities because of it. One member had it bound to ctr-1. There’s nothing worse than having the perfect opportunity to cast Deep Breath in a dungeon etc only for it to tell you it just doesn’t feel like it.
Please fix this already, it’s been happening since prepatch. I have video proof that it’s been an issue for this long.
And before you ask, yes, I made a thread in the Bugs forum during prepatch about this but it was ignored.
It does change, as in this problem doesn’t occur. A different problem does instead, where the ability goes off immediately as if it was an instant cast. I don’t even get the chance to select the range, it just goes off.
Not all the time of course. I’d very much prefer to have these abilities in these keybinds, it’s very easy for me to use them.
My self-target is F1 but I can take a look quickly.
Update: No, my alt key is not set to anything but 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and Z. [So grateful for this search function in the options]
So there’s no conflict with the keybinds. Most notably though is that there are zero issues with these abilities if I click them. That’s what I’ve been doing, just pre-emptively preparing to click them but it’s not efficient when doing dungeons and so on.
It’s only keybinds and seemingly combo keybinds. One of my guild members said they were having the same issue when their Deep Breath was set to ctrl-1.
No. Every other ability works just fine with the keybinds, it’s not the keybinds themselves, it’s the range-selecting abilities.
They’re something new that Blizzard’s never done before, so it makes sense they’d be finicky with bugs but I would have imagined this would have been fixed by now. Apparently they don’t like combo-keybinds. It’s Blizzard’s problem to repair.
See, I thought it was only me for the longest time until I brought it up with guild members and now I see this. Apparently Blizzard either can’t find a fix for the issue or they have it low on the priority list… for some reason.
It’s not just alt though, it’s the ctrl key as well combo’d with numbers.
Yeah, it seems to depend on what you bind it to. I honestly think all I can do is try reporting it more.
The solutions Blizzard’s been suggesting don’t work. It’s not an issue with any third party software, I’ve played the game bare bones even without anything up, addons disabled and not even my gaming mouse’s settings turned on.
