Blizzard should publish info on pvp mods

Now that there are so many base modifications to spells and talents.

The best sources of info that we have are third party (drustvar), and the best that they can do is publish a table based on what’s in the [classname].txt file from the spellDataDump in github. What ends up happening is still not the easiest to follow.

Examples:

  1. Drustvar has a 50% negative pvp modifier for black arrow listed. However, this is a result of multiple spells named “black arrow” being in the file. There is the marks version of the spell, bm version, and the version that gets called in withering fire. BM does not have a pvp mod, marks is now .85, and the cleave ones are still .50.
  2. Talents like martial prowess are sometimes modified in places that aren’t the actual talent (MP is called via an effect on overpower, and that’s where the pvp mod is), which doesn’t get pulled in to the 3rd party table listing the pvp mods.

You can probably find more examples if you care to do your own search. The primary point of this post is that we should not need to dig through github or rely on someone else’s api being correct to know what spells are supposed to do in PvP. The best that those services can do still ends up being confusing anyway. Blizzard should post a table with all of the pvp modifiers on it and keep it updated themselves, since they’re the source. Putting the intended modifiers, not just the changed values, on the talents/spells themselves would also go a long way.

I like this idea. Would love a toggle for showing talents w/ pvp instance figures, too.

Honestly just needs removed at this point. Was added as an aditional hook for boomy st damage because starsurge already has a billion modifiers, but just ended up being stupid rng or over/undertuned to be always or never taken

i cast slam in the morning
i cast slam at night
i cast slam before i cast slam
then i cast mortal strike

I use an addon that shows all of the “extra” crap tacked onto a spell from talents, gear, and other things in the tooltip.
It’s actually quite comical to see how many modifiers are applied to some spells.
Some of them fill the screen top to bottom.

Enjoy.

Looking at a spell’s direct modifier will not show you any of the modifiers that are applied to talents, items, or anything else that affect that spell.

Oh, there is also this addon that shows PvP coefficient values in the tooltip.

don’t forget about the ones in times of peace and also in times of war

What makes the situation even worse is that some spells have several components with PVP mods - damage, range, duration, number of projectiles as is the case with double tap, etc.

Sometimes it’s hard to decipher what modifier pertains to what part of the spell.

I believe having this information in the default tooltips would be the best solution for everybody - for every part with a modifier, put in brackets, and with a different color, (in PVP combat)
