I’d imagine they’re furious and calling Blizz dumb but come on people this is not FF14, healers gotta mostly heal. If the healer agrees with the idea to DPS when they got down time then great but don’t force them to do that.
Actually, the thing shouldn’t be that each spec should focus on the other, be it the dps to deal a lot of damage, the tank to taunt and defend, and the healer, well, heal the rest of the group.
the dps counts, and the faster it is, the less work it will be for the specs that do not dedicate to damage, something that not only the DPS has to be part of the damage of the game.
Something that we do not know will be beyond this expansion, it is only as ambitious as Shadowlands, and BfA, which the environment and design is only a part and the tip of the iceberg that comes later in game feature, gameplay and gameloop, which They are already warned if something bad happens later.
It’s up to the group now isn’t it?
If it’s a random group, majority rules.
If it’s a player made group that player makes the rules.
If you say you’re going to die on that hill then be prepared to die on it
It pays to be nice to the healer. I like praise
We (I main a resto druid, this rogue is just a forum char) are never “doing nothing”. Even if nobody is taking damage on a particular moment we need to be prepared for a damage spike, a wrong pull, a distracted/bad group member taking avoidable damage among other things.
Part of healing is the part when we are actively healing and bringing people health up and the other part is us paying attention at what every single member of the group is doing in order to predict when we are going to have to heal, being focused might make it seem we are idle, but we are not.
I personally don’t mind throwing a moonfire and sunfire here and there during the fights, but I’ve seen people die in groups because the healer (both when I was the healer and others too) was mid attack and couldn’t react fast enough to a damage spike that we couldn’t see because the attention was in helping bring the mob down during a “slow part”.
Yes but throwing out a moonfire or Sunfire is hardly going to distract you.
You can even cast and then stop when it’s time to preheal/hot.
I know because I play healers
Any key above a 15, it becomes a liability for the healer to DPS. Healthbars literally combust and the healer needs to be standing ready
This is a common problem in FF. The healer heals so rarely that they often just forget and accidently cause a group wipe. That’s what focusing a healer to do two jobs will get you. Let healers be healers.
How many times in ff14 I get the healers that don’t heal. It’s the worst
Only if you have the attention span of a squirrel
Excuse me sir, I happen to have the attention span of a marmot.
Then you’re working on it. I only ask that you do your best
You’re still dpsing. It literally translates into communicating and planning your big CD’s for unavoidable damage. Most fights (Trash) won’t be rotting you unless its mechanic oriented. But in that case don’t stand in fire.
Guess I’ll prepare myself to get booted and die then as the rule’s stupid end of story. If I heal I’m healing majority of the time and if I dare tank I’m going at the pace I can handle and if healer doesn’t heal when I tank I’m gone as yeah no I’m not dealing with those folk again
I think this is a side effect of mana consumption not being an issue for healers. If mana was something healers had to conserve and part of the skill of healing was not over-healing and wasting mana (As it once was) then the DPS between your healing would no longer be a smart move for a healer or a team when they all died or got stuck sitting waiting for a healer to drink before a pull.
You’re missing the point where everyone is saying you do heal most at the time.
It’s like you’re purposely missing the part where you are only required to damage when you are currently not healing.
I can’t emphasize the 2nd paragraph enough
I can hear it now. “GAWD YOU’RE SO TOXIC DON’T TELL ME HOW TO PLAY”
Blahblah out here ignoring the fact that in the same interview it was mentioned that healer damage, especially in 5 man content, is part of the overall contribution that healers bring to the group.
I haven’t pvped for a couple of seasons but in PvP it’s actually smarter for the healer to do absolutely nothing as long as they can because it’s a mana war. The always be casting logic only applies when healers have infinite amounts of mana which is hardly ever the case
Wait your groups wait for you to eat/drink… lol what!
