Blizzard Revives Hardcore Characters Affected by DDoS Attacks

Mass revival of gnomes? Horrific! Were there no exceptions?

Next time it happens, have everyone make a ticket and demand the mats and gold back. Then when the customer service tells you to F off, be very public about the obvious double standards.

Real question is
 who cares

I think this takes away the “reward” from the skiddie(s) that did this, which makes them less likely to do it again.

Them being less likely to do it again means we’re less likely to get affected by it over here in retail.

So, two thoughts:

  1. To Blizzard: rare W
  2. To the attackers: get rekt, scrubs.

Not a huge fan of this tbh. If it can be proven that a character was lost because of this and Blizzard won’t revive the character then it will make people wary about using hardcore mode. Its sort of like why cracking down on cheating is important because if a competitive game has mostly hackers people will distrust the results and feel less inclined to play honestly.

So, special treatment for a HC WoW “streamer” / “Blizzard affiliate” guild get’s their HC players rolled back due to DDoS but HC players and HC guilds who’ve been affected by DDoS attacks in the past who are not part of a HC WoW streamer guild still don’t get the same treatment regardless if it occurred PRIOR to Saturday? They weren’t even going to be WORLD FIRST HC Blackwing Lair. This is what makes this more comical. IF ONLYFANGS were going to be WORLD FIRST with their progression, sure, I can understand their HC character be restored because it was still a deliberate attack.

The guild HC Elite were the FIRST guild to fully clear BWL with Hardcore characters and that was a YEAR ago. That title has already been claimed. It’s the fact that ONLYFANGS is a guild made up of notable streamers who play WoW on the regular and some are affiliated with Blizzard employment.

DDoS happens, we get it, it’s been happening for YEARS but to have this “special” occurrence happen to NA guilds, (RWF and HC Blackwing Lair) isn’t coincidence. They were targeted, plain and simple. Liquid bounced back from the DDoS attacks and power outages and still claimed World First.

I really hope in the future Blizzard don’t bite more than they can chew. Now, by rollbacking these HC WoW streamer guilds, you’re promoting MORE DDoS attack occurrences targeting more HC WoW guilds. I hope you’re ready for the storm that’s about to come full circle. I wouldn’t want to be in the way of that storm. Sheesh. :grimacing:

No, it’s more like self-imposing a DDoS attack doesn’t really make much sense in application when you start scrutinizing it lol

Please learn to read.

No you aren’t. You’re showing that there aren’t any consequences because a switch can get flipped and neutralize the attack.

“
we’re taking steps to resurrect player-characters that were lost as a result of these attacks”

Um
i did? They’re taking step to resurrect them
it’s literally special treatment for a guild that streams WoW, brings “1000’s” of viewers to WoW category and some who are employed/affiliated by Blizzard.

Do you think Blizzard cares about your HC WoW guild who’s progressing BWL with all HC players trying to finish it that don’t stream, that don’t bring 1000’s of viewers to WoW or affiliated with Blizzard? NOPE. This is a business move, not a “pity” move for players who play their game. There’s a difference.

I think this was the right call. From everything ive heard these ddos attacks were far out of the norm and presented an extreme scenario no one could reasonably play around.

Which is covered in their “we dont help you, unless you can bash us online, then we’ll break the rules”

yet here you are discussing it lol. thanks for telling thousands of people what you supposedly cannot care less about

might as well run down fifth avenue telling everyone you don’t believe in the tooth fairy

Them being everyone who died due to the DDoS, not just some specific streamers.

Lost in all of this is the guy just playing the game who lost his player to the ddos attack as well. Are we just going to live in this streamer world? What happens to them is not what happens to us

No, SOME PEOPLE GET IT BACK,not everyone man.

Rules for thee and not for me

Point out where Blizz says they’re only bringing back OF players.

Where are people coming to this conclusion that only the streamer characters are being restored? Blizzard literally did not suggest anything about this lol

Terrorists aren’t targeting run of the mill people.

Thats exactly who terrorists target, lol.
