Blizzard reportedly partnering with Chinese publisher NetEase again after Microsoft acquisition

Assuming this ends up materializing this would be an interesting about turn especially considering netease didn’t exactly end their relationship with Blizzard under amicable terms.

Maybe more important I wonder how this will affect WoW? I mean, the Chinese market is a pretty decent chunk of change for Blizzard, more revenue likely means more development resources that could go into the game, hopefully.

Not too suprised tbh considering it’s Microsoft Blizzard now, not Activision Blizzard.

It’s kind of like when United States changed relations with France after King Louis was deposed.

New “government,” new “foreign policy.” Same goes for companies.

 oh my sweet summer child.

It means more executive bonuses, and a token “we’ll open some positions we’ll never actually fill to make it look like we’re doing something”

I wonder how our new overlords feel about Taylor Swift’s album 1989.

Sounds great. I’d hate to have my account taken away so I’m glad people over there might be able to play on their client again.

I think the old Netease drama was overstated. I don’t think they broke up on bad terms at all. I remember reading a transcript of what they were saying in the video of them destroying that statue and it had nothing to do with the Netease/Blizzard relationship at all. The whole statue thing was clickbait.

The new Netease deal is almost certainly to try and get official Blizzard WoW servers back up and running in China. It wont change anything here in NA/EU. None of this really has anything to do with Netease or Blizzard. It’s all coming from the CCP trying to micromanage their tech sector.

Are the laws against minors playing more than like 3 hours a week or something still in effect? I haven’t kept up on the news in China.

Looks like they just tightened restrictions even more, recently. Sucks to be a Chinese kid gamer.

I don’t think they really wanted to part ways with the Chinese market anyway, so this doesn’t surprise me much. Business as usual.

I think WoW, even without this netease deal, has had more resources thrown at it then say prior expansions. At the very least the patch cadence is probably what Blizzard had hopes back in say WoD with a goal of a more yearly release schedule.

Our? You seem enthusiastic, but don’t speak for the rest of us.

Same goes for American politicians.

Gobless hoss

Quick to anger, no wonder you’re so quick to assume things as well.

the United States that France went bankrupt supporting the revolution of, resulting in a revolution in France, in which the culmination was King Louis’ execution?

seems like an odd timeline.

I will be more likely to believe this when I see it announced by Blizzard themselves. Some foreign/Chinese source doesn’t provide any conviction.

Hopefully they strike a deal, would suck to not be able to play :dracthyr_cry_animated: :dracthyr_cry_animated:

If I played in China I would be sooo mad I would not accept their shenanigans, if my account closes you lose a customer forever bye felicia, would never ever play a game related to Blizz again. I don’t care if you bring it back one year later I move on baby
