TL;DR - While we all agree that the delay was necessary, Blizzard engineered this situation by waiting for the last second to announce the news when it’s likely they’ve known about this decision for at least a week. Even just communicating SL may delay would have saved plenty of people from burning their PTO. Please communicate better Blizzard. FYI, they are granting refunds for returning players sub-time which is the refund mentioned in the post below.
Just a reminder that Blizzard emphasized it was on track for it’s October release date multiple times.
They even had John Hight come out and declare that come hell or high water that the fall release date would not be missed…
And now the game is delayed and that fall release date will be missed.
While it was 100% the right call to delay the expansion because its nowhere close to ready in respect to tuning/readjustments/balancing, Blizzard 100% went about this in the worst way possible yet again.
They probably should open up a channel for refunds on sub time in consideration of the returning players who came back in anticipation of SL and now feel bait & switched. They went out of their way to drop a date, assured everyone they were on target multiple times, and while we’re all scratching at our heads at the previously missing prepatch date it turns out that they’re actually not on target and need more time.
Don’t be a corporate shill, Blizzard can afford the refunds and should probably provide it for good will.

Like I said, I agree with the delay but I also acknowledge that they screwed up everything about this situation yet again.
Players are rightfully pissed IMO.

could still be released in fall…

Can almost guarantee this won’t happen. Especially for people who already used the leveling boost or did the quest for the pre-order armor set.
Those players have already used the product they payed for.

They haven’t missed anything. Fall ends December 20.

Eh, they are still getting 15 dollars regardless of the delay or not. There will be another gold sink long boi idea probably somewhere in SL.
I just laugh at these people crying fowl about using vacation time.
December 21st is the first day of winter.
Given the choice between releasing a functionally complete game that’s been poorly play tested and asking players to have a potentially unenjoyable experience, or giving themselves an extra month or two to hammer out the fine details, Blizzard chose to wait.

Not for the expansion, but for the time. Plenty of people (myself included) recently resubbed because the expansion was on the horizon and they guaranteed they were on target for the date.
Turns out that was not entirely accurate and they jumped the gun horrendously.
Im still wondering why they went out of their way to reassure everyone multiple times about the expac date while in actually being uncertain that they would make it in time.
F in the chat for those who had their PTO approved for the previous release date.

But fall lasts through December so technically we haven’t missed the date

To be fair, yes, they always referred to releasing in the fall vs. releasing 10/27.
Most of the comments were before they announced a solid release date though.
Last day of fall is December 21st.
