I know it’s a lot to ask. But the recent updates to Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin are actually great and bring a lot of new life to the BGs. I really think an update to the rest of the cities, if not the the rest of the world, could really benefit the game in the long run.
Yes please. Lets slowly bring the old graphics more up to date. People like pretty shinies now days. At the very least make the major cities a primary focus and then branch out from there.
Omg yes please, they need to keep things current. As all of the trees look like razor blades or saw blades laying flat when looking at them.
As they have quests and island expedition quests and whatever else takes us to the older zones, they need to be updated. Nothing like going back to 2004 again…
I disagree. There is a charm for how it looked in either vanilla through to wotlk, or cata and onward. It’s a 14 year old game. If I was able to, i’d keep old models for characters on but alas nope.
I’m… torn. I really really like the Arathi uprez, and the BGs, and the art in the new zones is bloody fantastic.
But, like Tulkiras said, there’s a certain charm to the older zones that I don’t think would be retained, necessarily, by the full-on uprez treatment that they’ve been giving the other areas. And I can’t expect that simply plopping in some, I dunno, round trees instead of the more awkward polygonal ones in some places would fly.
Silvermoon/Eversong Woods is a great example. Absolutely one of my favorite zones. While I would love to see a high-res version of Silvermoon with all the modern bits and bobs, updated lighting effects, fancier architecture, and graphical splendor of 2019 WoW, I don’t know if it would still feel the same as it did when I started my third character, a blood elf mage, in 2008.
But maybe it would! Maybe it would be like that all over again. I spent the entire prep time of a comp-stomp BG just touring the Horde starting fort in the uprezzed Arathi Basin, marveling at everything. And I love Arathi Basin, I probably spent more hours there during Wrath then I spent in Dalaran when I was hardcore into PvP. It’s surprisingly true to the feel of the original while still looking fantastic like the new zones all do.
Maybe they can add some cool toys or mounts that 50% of the proceeds will go to funding the updating of the old world!!! This small indie company clearly does not have sufficient funds to do it right now so the players should support them financially
I would be but they would probably need to hire 100 people and spend a year updating everything in the world. It isn’t just the textures in the world but every texture, item, and model that needs to be updated and created with greater fidelity. These then need to be tested on 20 different races.
