Just a thought, but I’d rather have control over how my character swings their sword instead of letting an automated system do it for me.
It’s alright if it wouldn’t be called ‘auto-attack’ and more of a ‘basic attack’ if anything.

So an off the gcd ability that hits for weapon dmg and has a cd matching your attack speed? What does this actually accomplish?
1 (wait 2.4 secs) 1 (wait)… That would get old very fast.
if we control auto-attack would that defeat the purpose of the “auto” part of it. Just saying
to what end?
Please don’t ruin Enhancement any more than it already has been. We just got Windfury Totem back, don’t make it a chore to use.
You play a class that can control its auto attacks, you tell us lmao
Why can’t casters have auto attack? Like let us automatically shoot wands while casting our actual spells.
It’s called auto attack for a reason my dude.
wont know. I just press soulbomb
Control over resource generation.
Another button to hit in between GCD’s.
Can be set to a fixed degree that doesn’t screw over certain rotations.
Hell, if you want you can just use the LMB as a means to just hold down and do whites after every ability.
Sometimes the things we take for granted aren’t really the best in the long run. There’s a lot of things you can do to make a single little white enjoyable overall.
Fun fact. Early in their design Monks weren’t supposed to have autoattacks. Was one of their gimicks.
Never made it into the game for a reason.
Auto-attacks are basically just a balancing tool nowadays, no specs are expected to sit there and just let their character auto-swing, you always have something to press.
They make combat look a bit more busy too.
This would make me hate basic attacking so much. It’s basic, its boring, and it serves no purpose being apart of our actual button pushing rotation besides both creating and filling unnecessary space.
You have filler dots that serve a similar purpose. VT, Immolate, Flame Shock, Moonfire etc.
Different roles working differently is fine.
It doesn’t have to fill an unnecessary space as long as you apply incentives and reasons to be swinging my guy.
Besides you can use that controlled basic attack to mindlessly swing at your friends to kill time in between things.
Besides, you play Demon Hunter, isn’t your main button just a basic attack overall?
I would also really appreciate this.
I hate having the computer play my character. I have both made a thread seeking info on why I can’t turn auto-attack off as I could in the past and submitted an in-game suggestion requesting they reinstate my ability to turn it off.
But I like your idea better.
If you get your haste high enough there’s no time to hit an extra button between GCDs, especially when someone pops Hero.
/stopattack is literally a macro command lol that already exists.
I want it completely turned off.
Maybe it’s just me. I’d rather keep pushing buttons to auto attack in games where it actually makes a difference, like Black Desert Online for an example. In WoW it just seems so pointless to me.
I don’t know, I don’t consider fracture to be a basic attack. Unless my basic attacks grant pain and generate soul shards, which they don’t.
Also, if I already have a “basic attack button” then what’s the point of giving me more of the same?
