Blizzard please don't remove the dungeons for Gnomeregan and Scarlet Monastery

TLDRl; Blizzard should add attunment for the SoD Raids so we can keep the original dungeons.

I’ve been enjoying season of discovery just as much as anyone else has. I do have a BIG concern though going into the future phases. We’ve already seen with BFD that Blizz has removed the dungeon version of the instance. I’m concerned going into Gnomer and SM that they’ll do the same. These are iconic and beloved dungeons and I really don’t want to see Blizz pull a Cataclysm moment where they take away something old but loved and replace it with something new, baring you from experiencing the old content. I think it would be great to see these new SoD raids require attunement.

In a perfect world I’d love to see us run through Gnomer dungeon and need to do a quest for High Tinker Mekkatorque or someone else that talks about a sealed off lower section of Gnomeregan. After completing the dungeon and attunment quest you would have the workshop key and something else that unlocks the raid. We would then be able to enter the raid through an elevator inside the dungeon next to the workshop door. This would lead to a brand new map of Lower Gnomeregan or Gnomeregan Proper with new bosses and environment maybe even some new mechanics that have to do with the gas that was released. I could see a very similar thing happening with SM where you need something off of the final boss for each wing leading up to SM Citadel or something like that.

I know we don’t live in a perfect world though and I am expecting Blizz to just tweak the boss designs and mechanics a bit, increase the loot and call it a day. Even if this is what we get it would still be beneficial for them to add an attunement. Maybe there is a lever or button we can press outside the entrance and it activates the hard-mode/raid version.

Agreed, we still want to do SM. Don’t remove content.

I love gnomer always look forward to running it and getting those shiny agi pants :stuck_out_tongue:

At no point this season have I wished to do the old 5man BFD. New boss mechanics are not yet quite stale (for most players) in the 3.5weeks since release.

Once I see the new Gnomer, and the new SM, I won’t even think about the old 5mans until the next time i level in hardcore.

If Blizzard succeeds, the new experience will be exciting enough that we can pain to retire these nostalgic 5mans until we revisit them on some other Era version.

I enjoy the old SM and wish to do both it and the Raid.

I dont mind they convert unpopular dungeons to raid, but true for SM id prefer to keep the 5 man, or have the choice of both

I have. Quite a lot. I do not enjoy the retail style mechanics in the new raid. They’re not hard, and I do the raid successfully every lockout. I just don’t like them. Wish we could add the original BFD to the list of dungeons we could currently run over and over again.

I kinda miss the old one, it was actually harder than the new BFD lol.

They made it for 10 people but gave the trash almost no buffs, so you can pull like 3+ packs and zero risk to raid.

The bosses were a bit challenging first time around, but now you can clear whole thing with a pug in under 50 min with little chance of wipe.

I hope they make the next content more like vanilla raids (with dangerous trash and unforgiving boss auto attacks) instead of making it easier than the dungeon they removed…

I can’t imagine leveling 25-40 without SM. We’d be left with RFK, RFD, and Uldaman.

My alt army would suffer greatly.

You could always silly tank dungeon mobs at level 25. If you make them one shot healers and leather dps, this would not be a working formula for the target audience. - You’re thinking of endgame raids at 60.

In every single raid in vanilla you can pull multi packs and breeze through. It took more than the first 2 weeks, but soon it became a zugfest(which is fine)

You don’t think BFD falls perfectly into the classic formula? Maybe you’re playing the wrong version

Most 40 man raids to this day (cept maybe MC) if you pull extra packs you wipe. Even with overgeared groups. People just learned how to pull optimally and fast.

Yeah I agree with this, I just think they could have made them more dangerous than they were in the old dungeon instead of less dangerous. Just make them 2 - 3 hit leather and 2 hit cloth, instead rn it is like 10-15 hits on leather and 5-10 on cloth, there is near zero risk.

hey come on lets be fair did 7/7 on the second lockout it was fun findout the mechanics, not what i expected btw more retail stuff, is only ez now because of gearrrrrr and classes buffs i remember i didnt see any mages in the first 2 weeks bfd was hard 5/7 ok ? ppl getting overgear make the content ez not fair blame the devs not bad 2 weeks wipings with 3 locksouts week cap 40 going to be fun for sure

Even in the first two weeks the trash was significantly undertuned.

If they want to make trash that is zero risk, they may as well not have any trash…

A huge part of vanilla raids is the trash not the bosses themselves, so in the spirit it would be nice to see stronger trash that doesn’t feel just like a waste of time grind until the next boss… But takes cc, kiting, etc. to get through without deaths. And they should hit like trucks.

I was just thinking the same thing. As a newcomer to SoD, last night was my first BFD raid (hit 25 yesterday, and we pugged 6 raiders).

I remember OG BFD being a long and excruciating dungeon run. I was still messing with buffs and runes as a fresh 25, and it felt like half of the bosses were just trash mobs.

Granted, this is just introductory into SoD, and I appreciate the efforts of the devs, but I do hope for more challenge in the content to come.

The 42-52 dungeon?

And yeah, seriously, all we’re gonna have is RFK and RFD spam if no SM.
