Brewmaster is the least represented tank, We’ve been kind and were posting within our class channel about our requests, suggestions, feelings, and feedback but we can never get any words, and it seems like we’re just getting IGNORED…
Blizzard, this is a call for you:
Brewmasters are not dead (YET) and we really love the gameplay and the spec, so please Make Us Great Again and read at the class forum a bit…
This limbo is just not acceptable.
I could post here a ton of good threads from the Monk class forum but I’ll let my other Brew friends shine up a bit.
Last words:
Please do not ignore us and just few good words or thoughts would be appreciated by the Brew community.
Best.

Does Brewmaster have some sort of special ability? I seem to recall that one of the big guilds, either Team Liquid or Team Method, had a Brewmaster as one of its tanks in Season 1 RWF.
Someone said it was because they had a special ability but they didn’t say what it was.

If there is no other monk, brewmaster gives increase physical damage taken debuff
Brews when tuned well are super good at taking physical damage as well

Likely Stagger, their mechanic. You take 50% of damage right away, and the other 50% over 10 seconds (13 seconds with another talent). So they are great for progressing and taking tank busters. In m+ it less impactful as you’re whacked by 100s of tiny cuts from auto attacks.

Their physical damage debuff is also less useful in dungeons, most classes don’t do just physical damage, even monks lol

Brewmaster will stay in a bad spot until Blizzard can figure out a way to buff them without making them broken in Raids. They are afraid that Brews will be broken so they lenave them at the bottom.

They’d have to change the way they work entirely I fear

Would you like to join the rogues in the “Devs don’t deserve coffee” movement?
All rogues are actively taking the coffee of Devs. Monks can do their part by kicking all coffee out of devs hands.
Because devs who don’t fix classes don’t deserve a coffee fix!

I mean we’re not asking all asking for a rework. Just things like :
-make our damage equal to other tanks
-maybe give us a brez to improve our group utility (as all classes able to tank / heal / dps does already have)
-lower some Defensives CD to handle better the M+ content.
Just things like that would be already a good step forward without breaking it for raid.
Personally i do brew since pandaria and I do enjoy the gameplay.
I really don’t feel in a bad spot as brewmaster for any content but I can definitively notice the overall feeling around and with this patch I can feel our lack of damages compared to other tanks.

Imagine thinking that Blizzard buys their devs coffee, or pays them enough to afford coffee.

Monks just aren’t popular in general. Community perception isn’t going to change on this until a WoW streamer starts hyping them up, regardless of whether or not Blizz does anything themselves. Unless what they do is change them so much that they become blatantly overpowered, but that’s not really a healthy solution.
To be clear, I think the only problem monks have is community perception. I don’t think there’re any glaring issues with the class or individual specs aside from that. Monks just aren’t popular.

I don’t think that’s true. Ox Stance is just unforgivably bad for M+.
There needs to be some equivalent option that’s good against nibble damage like a flat subtraction. That sort of thing would be extra fitting for monk, because it’s always applied PRE-mitigation and ends up sucking for tanks that use armor bonuses.

“Brewmaster? Isn’t that a Brewfest title? Maybe an achievement? It isn’t even October, why are people talking about this?”

Brew is almost always a top tier progression tank. Wind walker and mistweaver are nearly always under tuned. So you get a good progression tank and monk buff.
Brew is also nearly always mid at best in M+ and rarely ideal for raid farm. Brew is also one of the more difficult tanks which leads to a less than great community opinion of the spec.
