You are going to be seeing a lot of this. BTW, check out Aluneth Master’s channel. He is EU, but has really impressive content. Very creative.
I’d bet its because its treated as a “brawl” on 10.2 ptr, so toys, consumables and the weird merc mode thing are in place because of it.
Once it’s an actual “rated” mode i’d imagine it would inherit rbg rules
Yes, but they really need to disable consumables, items and such for the 10.2 version. If they want meaningful data, that is. The speed items, in particular, are really going to screw up their dataset.
Can someone break down what items he used, cause I haven’t checked out Engineering yet.
Also, it’s not just consumables that will be a problem in the brawl- but Battle Res.
It’s not going to be solo RBGs for a while though, right? What’s coming in 10.2 is a brawl for testing purposes.
correct, it’s just the ptr stuff but on live servers
Yes, consumables, items, tinkers, etc. He started there by using the engineering tinker Shadowflame Rocket.
It will have the same mechanics as what will be coming and in order to test those mechanics (how often bases get assaulted, flipped, flags get capped and how fast, etc) will be skewed by mobility consumables. They will be making changes to things like mount speed based off of the data collected. With everyone running around at warp speed using gliders, fruit, rockets, etc, they might look at the data and decide to slow things down.
Also, it will have rating. There just won’t be any rewards, titles or achievements given for the rating.
Oh yeah, i do agree with you about the consumables.
we play with consumables in epics, making sure you have everything you need is just part of the game, been that way since vanilla when people spent all day farming mats to raid. they could leave them in the game.
I don’t care about consumables in epic BGs or random BGs. They don’t belong in the rated solo Q BGs even in a “test” phase.
This is meant to be a rated environment where no consumable work.
I think they should also consider it Rated while it is in Brawl mode, otherwise the results will be skewed. MM with saltwater potion can delete anything.
Yeah, they need to be turned off for sure. Consumables have no place in rated content.
why not? its just depth of gameplay
LMAO over here.
it makes sense for arena, that is supposed to be class vs class combat. but that paradigm doesn’t apply to battlegrounds.
The point is to not have outside forces(profession, consumables, toys) influence the gameplay. Just like Arena, you can only use your class/race toolkit.
Otherwise the top rated people will be those who do use consumables and at the bottom, those who don’t.
yeah, thats the point, the people who use everything at their disposal should show a greater depth of skill and mastery than those who do not, and be rewarded in kind.
Imagine Blizzard adding that to the balance revision. Now they have to take into account every consumable they create.
