Guys, WoW is incredibly popular in South Korea, China, and Taiwan. But why there is no WoW in Japan? Many Blizzard games are very popular here, Overwatch and Diablo have a huge fan base. Not everyone in Japan wants only play FF14 or Genshin Impact. There is sure a market for WoW as well. Blizzard, please translate WoW to Japanese and bring it to Japan. I still can not believe, why WoW is not available in Japanese until now.

Blizzard is owned by Microsoft now. Ask Microsoft how pivoting to Japan with Xbox worked out for them.

I’d imagine it’s because no Japanese company has shown much interest in localizing it and Blizzard doesn’t see that the potential audience is big enough to warrant doing it themselves but yeah it is a bit strange it never came over in all these years.

At least someone is asking for it. How can people know about the game if it was never released, it has to come to Japan first.
I’ve been playing from Japan for 19 years. No issue for me.
WoW exist on Japanese store front of Blizzard, they send you Singapore server usually by default. Even the client has Japanese for language.

If they’re smart they’ll steer clear from WoW.
They’ve no doubt noted the effect that current Western tastes have on franchises.
You need only look at what’s laughably left of current Star Wars as the reason why anyone these days would seriously gatekeep what consists of their cultural tastes or flavors.

I know what you’re trying to say and I agree. There seems to always be an agenda or some kind of narrative. It was nice in simpler times. Probably part of the reason why I love classic so much.
Don’t forget Disney 
I mean it doesn’t really matter what they do with Star Wars now.
The lesson to be learned in that case is they don’t care what happens to it anymore and people will be wiser about who or what they let into their sphere of influence.

George Lucas used to be very strict on what happened with star wars. Times change I guess.
Japan tends to prefer console gaming, which is why FFXIV is popular. You’d probably have to put it on Playstation for them to care, considering how bad XBox sales usually are there.

PC gaming has been picking up in Japan the past 5-6 years, and I assume it’ll get bigger with stuff like the Steam Deck and other such devices selling well.

Japan tends not to worry about crap like that unlike the small segment of US gamers that are hyper impressionable to over-opinionated and highly politicized youtubers that constantly whine and cry about stuff like thats not that big of a deal.

You can play in Japan, they offer the client in Japanese iirc, there just aren’t dedicated servers in-country. Probably not big enough demand, plus it’s playable enough on the other datacenters.
